I woke up a few hours later, rested but a bit nervous. There was a possibility of getting off this base soon, but there was also the possibility of war on earth. I sighed and sat up, looking around. I didn't see any one. I frowned. Where'd everyone go? I looked at the clock. 11:28. I jumped out of bed, tripped, and fell.
"Ow! Potato! My knee!"
Bryan walked in. "Are you okay?" I heard him snicker. "Wait, did you just say potato?"
I rubbed my knee. "Yeah. I don't swear, I just yell the first word that comes to mind."
He was trying hard not to laugh harder. "Most people yell the first word that comes to mind. It's just usually a swear word." He offered me a hand.
I took it and stood. "Well, maybe more people should say potato instead."
He laughed. "Whatever you say. Anyways, I was going to wake you up since it's almost 11:30. We're going to have lunch, but I guess you could have breakfast instead. Or lunch. Or brunch? Nevermind, just come and eat. Oh, and Thalissa charged your cell so you can call Emma again." He handed me my holo-g-cell. "Well, actually I did, since I was the one who figured out how to charge it. It was actually pretty easy, I just... "
I rubbed my head. "Don't tell me how. My knee hurts already, don't make my head hurt too. Let's go eat."
We started walking out, and I turned on my cell, the hologram popping up. I swiped around. I had 167 notifications. I tapped on my messenger. 58 messages from Emma alone. I whistled.
"Why'd you whistle?" Bryan asked.
I yawned, still feeling tired. "'Cuz I'm a bird."
He rolled his eyes. "No, you're not. You're a... let me think. The first word that comes to my head is potato."
I laughed. "I'm a potato?"
"Sure, why not?"
I chuckled. "Whatever. The real reason I whistled is because I have 167 messages." I showed him my cell.
"Wow! I hope that means everyone on earth, at least, in the R.S.A., wants to help us down, since you're the only one who was contacting everyone."
"What, does no one else have a hol-g-cell?"
"No, they have them, they're just dead."
"I thought you figured out how to charge them."
He smirked. "Yeah, but I don't have to tell them first, do I?"
I rolled my eyes. "Oh Bryan. Always such a mystery, aren't you?"
"Nah, I'm just a little mischievous. Oh, and by the way, Rebekah and I already did the laundry."
"Really? Then what are we going to do for the rest of the day?"
"Try and get of the moon, what else?"
I nodded. "True." My eyes lit up. "Do you think Val could help us? I mean, a robot is usually programmed for problem solving."
He grinned. "Now THAT is a good idea! Let's eat first, then we'll go find Val."
We rushed over to the table, grabbed a bunch of food, and started eating as fast as we could, shoveling it down.
Rebeckah came and sat down next to us. "Umm... what are you doing?"
"Eef-ing ur foob," I muttered with my mouth full.
Bryan laughed, a few crumbs spilling out his mouth. He coughed, then swallowed. "Swallow your food!"
