John took a deep breath as he straightened his tie. Him and Brooke had been calling back and forth all week and planned a date for this weekend. Calling was easy to John, he was much more relaxed but when he saw Brooke all his calmness was thrown out the window. He couldn't believe someone like her would like someone like him. He looked in the mirror and frowned. He was just so average, he tried to straighten his brown hair that had decided that today of all days was a good time to be curly. Although he usually wore glasses they covered up his dark brown eyes which he kind of liked. He popped into his contacts and grabbed his keys.
"You can do this John." He muttered to himself
He rolled up to Brookes apartment. It was almost as beautiful as she was.The building looked old and victorian he was curious what it looked like on the inside. He was more curious what Brooke looked like he had told her he was taking her somewhere fancy although she could wear pajamas and he'd still be excited to be out with her. Brooke descended her stairs, her light brown hair curled in ringlets, her red dress seemed to sparkle in the night.
"Wow, you... just wow." John said in awe
"Thanks you don't look so bad yourself, let's get going!" She took his arm and the went to the restaurant, they talked for hours, the people who owned the restaurant actually kicked them out.
They walked down to the beach, neither wanted to go home.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Brooke said
"Yeah, it really is." John replied although he was talking about Brooke not the ocean.
"I wish we could stay here forever."
"Me too."
John then got idea
"Madam would you honor me with a dance?"
"There's no music though."
"That's okay we'll make our own."
John put one hand gently on her waist and held her hand and they danced along the beach. It was like a scene out of movie. He dipped her and kissed her. The kiss was soft and sweet and perfect.
"You're a pretty good dancer and kisser." Brooke said. A flash of doubt seemed to cross her face, barely noticeable, John noticed.
"You alright?"
"Oh, yes I'm fine just wish that I didn't have to go home" Somehow John knew intuitively, that wasn't it but he decided not to push it
"Yeah I wish you didn't have to either but at least I get to walk you home." They began to walk back, when they got back John gave her a peck on the cheek
"I'll see you around Brooke."
Brooke stared at Johns receding figure
"John wait!"
"Yes, Brooke?"
"You shouldn't...leave without saying goodnight."
"You're right, goodnight Brooke."
"Goodnight John." He didn't see it but a tear rolled down Brooke's cheek.
