Hermione's POV
The days leading up to the announcement of the matches were awkward. Ginny and Harry were tip toeing around each other. Me and Ron couldn't figure out if we wanted to be paired together or not. Even the twins were nervous which of course put everyone on edge because they were almost never nervous. Luna spent a lot of time at the burrow with us and her Ginny and I all became quite close. I had never really been close to Luna in school I thought she was an oddity, but now I couldn't remember what it was like when she wasn't one of my best friends. She was even here now as we all sat at the dinner table in the burrow a letter in front of us that held the name of our future love or supposed love we could end up hating them. And it was that last thought that scared me. "Well there's no point in just staring at them. Go on Percy open yours" prompted Mrs. Weasley. In all honesty I am surprised she got him to open his with us. Things were still rocky between Percy and the rest of the Weasleys. But that might be why he did it to earn more of the trust back. He slowly open his letter and skimmed the page looking for a name I suppose. "Angelina Johnson. She was in your year right?" The question was directed at George who just nodded probably thinking exactly what I am that will be an interesting couple. "Lovely well make sure to invite her over for Sunday dinner dear." Molly seemed relieved at the match most likely just glad that Percy didn't get paired with a Death Eater. The twins looked at each other next and seemed to have a silent conversation after which they both ripped their letters open. Both of their faces went to identical looks of shock they looked at each other then showed each other their papers and waved us to continue opening. "But boys don't you want to share who you got." Molly looked half between mad and scared. "We will mom" "at the end don't worry" "there not bad." I will never understand how they talk like that. Harry decided to take the pressure of the boys by opening his letter next. He looked shocked but not upset per say. "Ummm. Cho Chang?" His answer to our looks of question came out as more of a question it's self but I wasn't worried about that. My head immediately flew to look at Ginny and I seen Luna's do the same. She looked more disappointed than sad, but she looked at us both and mouthed that it's ok. "Ohh I don't believe I've met her before. Please do invite her over for dinner dear." At Mrs. Weasleys answer I seen some of Harry's worry fade and that's when I realized he was worried about not being accepted with the Weasleys anymore if he wasn't with Ginny. I gave him a small smile and decided to just get mine over with. As I opened my envelope I felt everyone watching me. I scanned the paper just looking for the name that I needed when I found it all my rational thought told me that this was good he's not a Death Eater and I know him. But the other part of me was saying that this couldn't be right because the name that was written down in ink as black as Sirius's hair. Fredrick Weasley.Ginny's POV
I'm not Harry's match. That was all I could think as I watched Hermione opening her letter. I was devastated I knew that I shouldn't be mad at him. He didn't get a choice in who his paper said of course. But he looked almost happy that he was paired with Cho. How was I not supposed to be at least a little upset? But all thought of my own matching went out the window when I seen Hermione go pale. Her eyes glanced up to the twins sitting across from her. She turned her head more to Fred and said. "What...." she never finished her sentence just stared open mouthed at my brother. It wasn't until Fred answered with " I don't know." That it clicks in my head that they got matched. "You got Fred Hermione?" I asked she just nodded her head and I seen Ron's mouth fall open. But for once in his life decided to keep his opinion to himself. Thank goodness to because I don't think it was a good one. "Well I guess I can go." whispered Luna. As she opened her paper I found my self prying that she got a decent person because as much as I know Fred will drive Hermione nuts he'll still keep her safe. Luna did a similar movement to Hermione and when Ron made an attempt at a joke I knew he'd hit the nail on the head. "Don't tell me you got George?" Whatever response he was expecting it wasn't for her to nod her head in agreement. "Well bloody hell I'll be damned." "RONALD!! Language!" My mother chastised. George for his part looked quite surprised but also particularly amused. Luna for once didn't have a dreamlike look in her eyes. I decided to take the attention off of her by saying "I guess I'll go."Luna's POV
Both me and Hermione seemed to be in shock. All I could do was look at George. I knew it could have been worse, the twins were both good guys I'd be safe with him. But it still felt weird knowing I'd have to marry him. Despite being completely emerged in our own staring contests when Ginny said that she was going both mine and Hermione's heads snapped to look at her. I knew that we were thinking the same thing, we were both safe. Maybe awkward and weird but safe. The twins wouldn't hurt us even if they were a little crazy some times, but Ginny was still up in the air. She could get paired with anyone good or bad. And Harry being her safety net was gone. The world moved in slow motion as the opened the envelope and unfolded the paper. Then she spoke the words that changed everything in the burrow forever. "Draco Malfoy."
