"Hello," The small Android greeted, nodding his head only slightly. "I am Connor, your personal Pocketdroid sent by Cyberlife." He tilted his head, his eyes analysing you. "What is your name?"
"Uh, _____." You responded.
"Nice to meet you, _____." He smiled for a moment, tilting his head. You couldn't help but smile back as you sat down in one of the few chairs next to the table. "What time do you usually wake up in the morning?"
"6:30," You replied, your face heating up from remembering the events of this morning. The small "PocketDroid" continued to ask you questions about your day to day life, from which days you worked and small things like phone numbers. You found yourself holding Connor, your fingers lightly bending as he sat in the palm of your hand, looking at you with interest.
"Based on the time you've informed me," Connor suddenly spoke, interrupting himself mid sentence about dogs. "It would be advised to have dinner right about now. Would you like me to pull up any recipes?"
"No thank you," You replied. You walked towards the kitchen, he stood up, steadying himself by holding onto your curled fingers. When you arrived to the counter, he hopped from your hand and inspected the surface.
"It would be advised to sanitize your counter." He looked back to you, his eyes locating your location. "It is recommended you wash your hands, as well, _____."
"I know," You sighed. "I'm just making some rice, it really doesn't require much preparation. When reminds me, do you need food or anything?"
"No," He replied matter of factly. "I am completely electricity run, and completly wireless. We will need to set up my charging pad later."
"Alright, tell me more about it." You placed the pot of rice and water on the burner, and placed a lid over it.
"Well," Connor began. "It's a platform that I can simply stand on, and it's transportable. I am eco-friendly as well, and I can charge in sunlight-" His head tilted to his right and he smiled- "I have many other ways of charging, but those are the more useful varients."
"Interesting." You found yourself in another conversation with the Pocketdroid as you stirred the rice around occasionally and added little things to it. Before you knew it, you had a plate of rice on the table.
You looked at Connor as he looked around the room, seeming to take notes while looking around. He sat at the edge of the small coffee table in front of the couch that you were sitting on, and then he did something quite odd. He moved so that he was in front of you, and stared, like a student would a wall during a boring lecture.
He then jumped from the table and walked out of the room. Thinking nothing of it, you are your plate of rice in the peaceful silence of the room, just the slightest white noise disrupting you from nothing at all. You soon finished and put the plate away.
It wasn't long until your tiny companion reunited with you as you watched TV. He struggled a bit to get on the couch, and you couldn't help yourself but chuckle at the failed attempt, it was similar to a funny cat fail.
"Would you like some help?" You asked him, rubbing his hair with your thumb and you couldn't help but smile. He frowned at you.
"No," He sounded unsure. "I'm one of Cyberlife's advanced Pocketdroids, I can formulate a solution to this temporary obstacle."
"Alright then," You laughed. "Suit yourself." You watched from the corner of your eye as he tried climbing the couch, jumping from the coffee table, before he reluctantly saw there was no way to get up.
"Could you assist me?" He asked, a bit of disappointment in his tone. You felt a tug on your pants, and you turned to him.
"Yeah, sure." You picked up the Pocketdroid carefully, and set him on your lap. "There, are ya comfy?"
"I do not need comfort," Connor stated. "But I appreciate your concern." You nodded. The both of you watched television in silence, and after awhile, he broke your attention from the screen.
"It is nearly 7," Connor announced. "It is best you get ready for a good night's rest."
"Since when were you the boss of me?" You asked in an annoyed tone.
"I am not the boss of you," He admitted. "I am just suggesting that you go to bed at a decent hour."
"It's way too early for bed, we can wait another hour." Taking out ypur phone, you leaned back into the couch. He looked at you,a bit hurt, but eventually looked back to the screen.
"____, it's been an hour," Connor statee. You opened your hand for him to climb onto. He clung yo your thumb tightly as you stood up, but regained balance as you walked into your bedroom.
Opening a drawer, you pulled out a t shirt and loose fitting sweat pants. You looked down at Connor, and a thought came to your mind; what if Cyberlife could see through his eyes? A bit anxious now, you weren't exactly sure what to do.
He detected your uncertainty and looked at you with concerned eyes. He let go of your thumb and stood up a little straighter. He gave you a simple nod of understanding.
"It's alright, _____." He jumped from the palm of your hand to the bed. "I won't look." With that he disappeared behind the pillow. After a moment, you changed into your pajamas. You pulled back the pillow to see him sitting, hugging his knees. He was alerted by the pillow moving and turned to face you.
"You have about an hour to do whatever you wish before it is recommended that you turn off your screens and go to sleep." He got up and and hopped onto the night stand before you put your pillow back, and you lied in bed. Taking out your phone, you happily scrolled through messages and other things you missed.
It was about an hour later, and you were about to browse the endless videos tht YouTube had to offer at the moment, but you were interrupted by a gentle tug on your shirt.
"I would advise against that, _____." He looked at you with a disapproving look, with a hint of disappointment. He seemed to read your mind, and it made you feel conflicted inside, seeing the betrayal in his eyes. "The lights from the screen stimulates your brain, and it believes it is day, so you won't be able to fall asleep. That is the contrary to our goals at the moment."
"I'm guessing my boss put you up to this?" You asked. You continued to look through your phone, sending a few of your friends a goodnight text. There was another tug at your shirt, it was a bit more urgent.
"No, but I insist you put your phone away." The screen shut off in your hands, without you doing a thing. "If you really need to message anyone, you can just ask me to do so." With that he took the device from your hands and gently put it on your bedside table. "Or, we can finish setting up my features."
"Sure, let's do that," You agreed, still a bit upset that he took your main income of entertainment away.
"Could you grab the box from the table you opened me on?" He asked. You nodded in reply, and retrieved the box. You felt there was more items inside- how had you not noticed before? Gently shaking the contents onto the bed, you were somewhat confused at what everything meant, seeing your confusion, tiny Connor went to work without another word.
You watched him curiously as he contemplated the best way to set up his charging station. After clearing the surface from any obstacles, he set himself up for the night. He turned to you after he plugged the cord into the wall.
"You have approximately 15 minutes before you should try and sleep," Connor declared. You nodded, and he turned the light off. Sighing, you stared at the blank ceiling above you.
"Could you plug in my phone?" You asked, looking at Connor. His charging pad faintly glowed blue, and he stood in the center of a triangle, his hands clasped behind his back as he looked at you. He nodded, and he plugged your phone in, you knew he had done it when the screen lit to life.
The faint sound of a car passing by filled in the peaceful silence of the night. You found yourself looking at the Pocketdroid as he returned to his pad and faced you, his hands returning behind his back. You watched from the dim glow of the triangle as his eyes seemed to unfocus, before his led lightly spun yellow. You found yourself falling asleep before the fifteen minutes were left, and before you knew it, you were off in dreamland.
