It was the first day of UA High. Izuku Midoriya was pumped beyond belief. It had always been his dream to attend the Hero school, and, with passing the exam, he was standing ready to start his career as a Hero in training. Beside him was his best friend since preschool, Katsuki Bakugo.

"You ready for this, Dekiru?" he asked, smiling. They were the best of friends, but also a bit of rivals with Izuku's Strength Enhancement Quirk (going to make it where he just naturally had it).

"For a long time now, Kacchan. You?"

"Like you have to ask," they both laughed as they made their way to Class 1-A, trying to make sure they weren't late. As they arrived, they walked in and noticed that most of the class was already present, including a few of the people that Izuku had seen during the Entrance Exam, such as Tenya Iida. Iida had originally rubbed Izuku the wrong way with how he was calling people out during the briefing. Especially....

A shade of pink caught Izuku's eyes. In the corner of the room sat the girl who had been mumbling during the briefing, having gained the ire of Iida. Izuku felt relieved that she had made it. Whereas she had been fairly timid when they first met, with Izuku catching her from tripping on her own feet, she had changed immensely when they got the actually testing. There was a fire, a determination that resounded with Izuku.

And it didn't help that she was pretty to boot. But right now, in the corner, she looked like she was just trying to hide from the world. Izuku couldn't have that, now.

As Bakugo and Iida got into an argument, Izuku bypassed them and walked up to where Mina was sitting, sitting down in the chair in front of her. She seemed to mumbling again, lost in thought, as she hadn't noticed Izuku sitting down.

"Hi, there," Izuku said. It must of startled the poor girl, as she let out a small "eep!" before her eyes found his.

Now, Izuku for the most part had a fairly plain face. But his charisma, his always smiling, and how buff he was from his time training his quirk allowed for him to stand out more. His green hair and deep, emerald green eyes also helped with that. And it was things like this that Mina noticed.

"H-hi," she said, meekly.

"I remember you from the Entrance Exam," Izuku started. "You were amazing out there. Izuku Midoriya." He finished the last part by extending his hand to her, which she cautiously took.

"M-mina A-ashido," she said, still a little quiet. "And I didn't think I did that great. You, though. You were truly phenomenal, with your speed and strength. And helping everyone out....even me. You're gonna be a great hero, Midoriya." This caused Izuku to actually blush a little, especially seeing Mina's skin gain a tint of lilac. She barely looked at him, looking more to the ground.

"Please, call me Izuku," he said, and her eyes widened as her blush grew.

"I...I couldn't possibly...." she started to protest.

"I insist. After all, it's what friends do, right? Are we not friends? Cause I thought me making sure you didn't hit the ground should constitute us as such." He smiled, with a hint of teasing.

"Y-you...you wanna be my friend?" there was a look of shock to her face, and something more. Something Izuku noticed that made him not a little bit angry as he realized the origin of that look. Mina had been bullied. "Why would anyone wanna be friends with a freak like me?" she finished, confirming Izuku's theory. He took one of her hands without thinking.

"You are not a freak," he said. "Why would you think that?" Tears started to well in her eyes.

"Look at me," she said, simply. And Izuku understood. She had been bullied because of different she looked. "Pink skin. Pink hair. Black sclera and horns. I'm a fre..." she was cut off from saying the word again.

"I think, no I know, it makes you stand out," Izuku said. Uncommon for him, he actually nervously followed up. "I think you look beautiful." Her eyes widened, before finally smiling. Maybe the year wouldn't be so bad after all.
