It's a Saturday. It's a Saturday the day before his 23rd birthday. It's a Saturday and he is walking down to his favorite cafe where he would read books about Greek gods and mythology, stars and astrology, anything in the world and everything other than that. He loved going there as much as he loves carrot cake.
Carrot cake.
He will order carrot cake and maybe a cold glass of banana milk. An early present just for him.
Jungkook head to the very back of the rustic cafe where it is his favorite spot, between astrology and mythology. He sat on an armchair which had beautiful patterns of flowers, buds and leaves; placed his carrot cake and milk and take a look at the new books for astrology at the middle of the shelf.
He took two books about dark matter (The energy of the Unknown) and his favorite of all time (Astrology and All Things Aside).
As Jungkook picked out the books out of the shelves, on the other side was a boy, not much far away from his age but definitely older than him. The boy looked up from his book and locked eyes with Jungkook.
He then felt a rush of electricity trickling up his spine and making his hair rise.
What is this feeling? And why do I like it?
Jungkook froze to the point where he dropped his books to ground and startled himself.
Those eyes, half moon shaped eyes. Filled with secrets and everything else in this universe.
"Sorry I scared you there, mate!" The boy apologized while rubbing his head.
"No that's okay, I'm just very clumsy" Jungkook said ever so quietly while looking down to the floor so that he wouldn't ever see those eyes again.
As Jungkook picked up the books and headed to his table, the boy went around the shelves and sat himself in a chair nearby him. Jungkook looked at the books he picked out.
His taste in books is not that bad. He seems to like astrology just like me, as I can see right now, he's reading out the theory of the black hole, the meanings of constellations...
"You have a good eye in books" Jungkook blurted out suddenly.
"Huh?" The boy looked up and stared at Jungkook again. "Oh, these?" He chuckled softly, "They are just my favorite types of books, when I was young I loved space so much I told my Mom I want her to sign me up for NASA"
Jungkook chuckled,
That's cute
He thought.
"What's your name?" Jungkook asks as he closed his book and put it next to his cup of now, warm banana milk and carrot cake oozing with melted frosting.
"Kim Namjoon" he said with soul. Staring at Jungkook making him flustered to the point his mouth smiled ear-to-ear. "And, your name?" Mysterious Kim Namjoon asked back
"Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook" he replied while being filled with butterflies in his stomach. "So, do you come here often?"
As more questions poured out of each other's mouth, the more time they have consumed enough for them to forget what they're actually here for.
When it was almost 4 in the afternoon, Namjoon interrupted their conversation saying he needs to get going, he said he's very busy. But before he exits through the door; Jungkook reached out for his arm to stop him.
"Wait," he stopped, "I know we just met and all, but my birthday is tomorrow and I was just wondering if you're free just so we could meet again"
Then there was silence, Jungkook's eyes stared at Namjoon's, eager for an answer and at the same time hoping it's a yes because he enjoyed every moment with him.
"Yeah sure, where do you want to meet?" Namjoon finally answered while smiling showing his endless deep dimples.
" Maybe at a park? We could cycle around the fountain or maybe in the garden and eat ice cream after that," Jungkook answered.
"All right then," crescent moons appeared at his eyes as he smiled.
