Chapter 1 : house party

Sa kasalukuyan kong inaayos ang locker ko. Next week na ang third quarter exams. I really need to start reviewing and studying subjects by now. This time I have to strive harder to reach my mom's standards. Maybe, in that way she will be able to trust me and allow me to go enjoy my life. Today is not the day to think about parties.

Besides, mom has a point. Exams na next week why should I go partying. But I have never been to a party. My batchmates are getting their asses out there having fun and wasting their lives as a normal teenager. While me? Oh my life maybe normal but it is too normal. Nothing fun, nothing something new, just a another boring day that has been.

"Hey Nikki! Did Hazel invited you to her house party? Buong batch ang pupunta. Don't tell me hindi ka nanaman makakapunta dito? Mamaya na yon! Gagabihin nga lang tayo. Of course! Party yon." Mahabang litanya ng best friend ko.

Everyone, Meet Elizabeth Libres. My best friend since seventh grade. Even though napaka boring kong kasama. She always chooses to stay by my side and to have time with me at some time. She is always updated to the latest and hot gossips around our school campus and always active and present when it comes to parties. I love her life. She can do whatever she wants. Kung gusto nya magwala ng madaling araw nagagawa niya.

"Yes, Hazel did invite me. I mean she invited everyone in our batch and I am glad that I am one of those invited. I'm sorry I can't go. Next week na ang exams. I should start studying right now."

"Nikki, come on! You've never attended to any parties since seventh grade. You are always invited but you've never attended." reklamo ni Liza saakin. "What's new Liza? Never naman ako pinayagan ng mom ko sa mga parties na yan. Nagtataka nga ako why until now umaasa pa kayong mapapayagan ako or makakapunta man lang ako sa parties niyo." Malungkot kong pagkakasabi kay Liza. She seems disappointed yet used to it.

"Nikki, please kahit this time lang. Buong batch ito para naman kahit papaano may memory kami na kasama ka sa isang party. Kahit this night lang." Pagmamakaawa ni Liza sa akin. "Liza, I'm sorry I really can't. You know mom."

After ko ayusin yung locker ko naglakad nalang ako papuntang girl's restroom at hindi ko man lang namalayan na sumunod pala saakin si Liza. "Please, Nikki. Try harder this time. Gusto kita kasama. Possible na last party na ito. Pagod na nga lahat ng kaibigan natin na iinvite ka kasi expected nilang hindi ka makakapunta. Ako, umaasa pa ako. Sige na naman oh kahit para sa akin nalang." Nagpuppy eyes pa siya habang nagmamakaawa.

"I'll do my best." Sabi ko nalang. "Surprise us, Nikki. Alam ng karamihan na ikaw yung tipo na tao na puro aral lang. Hindi marunong pumarty. Masaya ka nga kasama sa school, killjoy naman pag dating sa mga ganito. Prove them wrong, Nikki. Hindi ka isang boring na nerd. You are a total cool bae! Own it!" Pag convince pa sa akin ni Liza. "Maybe, I'll see you tonight." dagdag pa niya sabay wink sa akin.

I really wanted to go. Buong batch ang na andon and magiging best party yon. But my mom, she's too strict and parties is not her thing. It was never her thing. All she wanna do is work. I think she have friends naman pero iba yung way niya kung mag enjoy.

To be honest, I am fun to be with alam ko yon sa sarili ko at ng mga kaibigan ko pero never nila akong nakasama sa mga social gatherings. Yes, I am a type of student na puro aral. Wala naman akong choice eh. Second honor student ako sa class namin. Yung first honor namin total nerd talaga yun pero active paren sa social gatherings. Ako lang ata ang hindi.

Sa lalim ng iniisip ko, hindi ko na namalayan na nagsisiuwian na ang mga studyante. Dali dali kong kinuha ang mga gamit ko at pumunta na sa school service.

Umupo ako sa passenger's seat ng van. Ayoko nang umupo sa likod dahil puro bata ang naandon. Mga makukulit pa tapos mga amoy pawis na nagpapahilo sa akin. Napansin kong hindi pa na alis ang service kaya nagtanong na ako sa driver namen.
