Elliott ran to his father's limp body. "Father? Father!" Elliott shook his arm. "Wake up!" then he realized. His father was dead. Elliott rustled through his pockets, and found a strange, about three pound machine in his lab coat. It had many wires running through a medium sized ball in the center of the machine. And there was a small, green button on the top of the ball. "Could activate it, what would go wrong? My family is gone.." he pressed the button.

A colorful portal appeared at his feet.

He face-first dived into it, and landed on soft, beautifully green grass that was perfectly cut.

He was in the 1940s.
