Chapter 5.
Tori's P.O.V.
Alexis soon pulled up and I shoved Ryder into the backseat before sliding into the front seat. I quickly strapped the seatbelt over me as Alexis drove off. I may’ve been breaking some laws, but that didn’t mean that I was going to break them all, so I clicked the seatbelt into place.
It wasn’t long before red and blue lights, accompanied by sirens were trailing behind us. We knew it was to be expected when you break out the famous Ryder Pierce. Although getting back to the house was aim number one, losing our tail was our main concern. Lucky I had planned for this, though. We just needed distance from them for the plan to be pulled off.
I pointed out a right turn to Alexis who quickly spun the wheel round and took the sharp right turn. However, that didn’t stop the cops- which I expected, but it added a little distance to the gap between us.
“Second left ahead,” I then said as I looked out of the windscreen.
People were starting to stare; shopper's mouths wide as we flew pass them and then at the red and blue lights of the police car after us. I kept leading Alexis to a car park that I knew so well. It was where I had stored the things that were necessary for us to escape: Disguises.
When I noticed once again that there wasn’t enough space between us still, we were about a mile or two away from the car park, I told Alexis to lose them, to which he grinned and began to make sharp turns. Alexis had the entire city mapped out in his brain. He had photographic memory, lucky for some.
Ryder hadn’t said a word, to which I was thankful for. I wasn’t in the mood for his cocky comments; I needed to get us away. It was just a matter of time before the Secret Agency put two and two together and found us.
Ten minutes later and we had managed to put some more space between us and the police car but that still wasn't enough, meaning that it was time for plan B.
I shoved my hand under the seat and pulled out a small hand machine gun. I wound down the window and popped my head out; there were four police cars that had managed to keep up with us somehow. Pointing the gun at the police cars I started firing at them, aiming for the wheels.
One of the cops lost control of his vehicle and ended up crashing into a passerby. Unlucky. I quickly got set on the other three cars that were still trailing us. One car took out another and left only on cop left. This time when I went to shoot the car swerved to the other side of us as they was no traffic between us anymore. Ryder had ducked down in the seats a little, obviously not trusting my aim. When I glanced at him, he smirked with a shrug,
“Can’t be too careful, love.”
“Alexis, you need to shoot,” I said, ignoring our fugitive as I ducked back into the car and rolled up the window.
I looked over at Alexis to see that he had wound down his window. “Take the wheel,” he ordered.
Doing as I was told, I took the wheel while passing the gun to Alexis. I didn’t pay attention to him as he leaned out of the window but instead made sure we didn't crash. It was my first time driving like that and so I made sure to keep all my attention on not crashing the damn vehicle.
While Alexis attempted to shoot at the police car, I made sure to avoid all the oncoming traffic that was heading our way. Adrenaline was pumping through my veins as I dodged cars passing by. I cast a quick look at Alexis to see that his whole upper torso was hanging out of the window. It wasn’t going to work; it seemed like this cop knew what he was doing.
“Alexis, get in,” I snapped, He quickly ducked back in the car and took the wheel off me again, “Swap places with me.”
He nodded and I moved over into his lap, taking the steering wheel into both of my hands while he shifted over a bit. My foot switched places with him and I had full control over the car. It was time for business.
