She felt herself levitating in the air. Slowly she began to realise that her body was tingling all over, everything was still black even after she had opened her eyes. She woke up in a strange place maybe a few hours later, maybe a few days; she didn't know. She looked around the room she was in and noticed that she was in a bedroom (or some kind of medical room); it had white and red walls. To her left she noticed a red lamp, placed atop a cream-coloured nightstand. This was all she noticed in the room before she tried to stand, she felt a sharp pain shoot through her leg, this forced her to quickly sit back down. Right then a woman with wings walked into the room. She looked like an angel, who introduced herself as Alex.
Alex was very.. Cassie didn't know, she thought she was gorgeous, but she couldn't think like that could she? Her parents were always very strict and extremely religious (even though they were scientists), they thought that by creating a portal, they could somehow find God and communicate with him. (Her parents would always say that if they could find a way, they would create a way to contact God or even meet Him.) Cassie's parents always told her and Jack that dating or even thinking about the same sex was wrong since they were young.
"Why am I here?" Cassie asked nicely, scared of what this woman could do to her if she got angry.
Alex had long muscular legs, very muscular arms and had a scar from the bottom of her right eye to her left cheek. This scar was very prominent across her face and was the first thing Cassie noticed at first glance. She had electric blue eyes and a cute button nose, she had quite a petite mouth; the features on her face didnt match the rest of her. This made Cassie stare at the Valkyrie. She was drop dead gorgeous.
"I was doing my daily errands when you happened to just fall from the sky as if someone had just pushed you from a plane. You fell right in front of me but before I could catch you. I came to my senses as I dove to catch you. You passed out when I caught you so I brought you here." Alex replied calmly, clearly seeing that the girl in front of her was on edge, though she didn't understand why.
Alex took a great interest in Cassie but she didn't understand why. It was clear that she didnt understand anything of Cassie and her wingless self. Although high class criminals had their wings cut off for punishment, it left permanent scars on the back. Alex had changed Cassie out of her normal clothes to clothes more comfortable to lay in, in the process of this she didnt see any scars. Alex had never met a wingless woman before (even though Cassie seemed like a teenager) without scars on her back from her wings being removed. Maybe she didn't have wings? This seemed to keep flying around at the back of Alex's mind as Cassie continued the conversation between her and Alex.
Cassie thought for a couple of seconds before asking "where am I?"
Seeing that Cassie was at some level of distress. "You are in a place called Asgard, I'm guessing you are from Midgard. The middle world." Alex tried to reply to her question as softly and as comfortingly as possible.
As suddenly as she had fallen from the sky earlier, everything that had happened came back to her; hitting her like a brick wall. Cassie sat in shock for what seemed like hours but in reality was just a few seconds before she asked another question.
"Oh, are you talking about the worlds in Thor?" Cassie was quite a geek when it came to comics and sci fi books and movies. She just loved them! "Y'know Midgard, the middle world; Asgard, the overworld and the underworld. The name escapes me..."
Alex stood, just looking at Cassie in absolute shock, her jaw could be described as being on the floor. She tried to speak but just managed to just stand there blubbering like a fish, trying to find any form of a coherent sentence. After a very awkward few seconds, she finally was able to form a simple sentence of astonishment. "How do you know so much about my world?"
"Your world?"
"Yeah."
"What do you mean your world?"
"My world, as in where I live. My whole life? My childhood and my livelihood."
This time it was Cassie's turn to sit in shock, blubbering like a fish. She was thinking of an answer to give Alex. Was she really in a mythical land from her comics? Was this some kind of joke? A prank maybe? She tried to formulate an answer in her head but she couldn't think of anything other than the fact that this world she was describing was from comic books.
"This world is well-known from where I come from. There are a ton of comic books about this world, they are quite well-known. And there's Thor, the destroyer, the one who wields a hammer only he can lift. They are my favourite kind of things to read and fantasise about." Cassie stops her rambling and looked up at Alex for some kind of answer or sign to show her that Thor is real. Alex just stands in shock again. "In your world I come from Midgard. It's very interesting and very unforgiving at times." Cassie added. "One more question, how long have I been here?" By now Cassie was very curious, she knows that every day in Asgard is two days in Midgard.
Alex thought for a second then answered her, "about four days, I started to wonder if you would ever wake up."
Cassie was awestruck, she has been away from her home for 8 days her parents must be worried sick. Maybe they don't care, because she disobeyed their rules. Maybe they think that she had run away. Thoughts just whirled around in her head, she felt lightheaded for a second. She wanted to be told that everything would be OK. Alex sensed this but didnt act upon her gut feeling, she thought she would appear strange and feared it may have come across as a ridicule.
"Before I go" said Alex, "what is your name?"
"Cassie." Cassie replied.
"Well, Cassie it was a pleasure to meet you, I hope we meet again soon and everything will be OK." As Alex was saying this she started to exit the room, when she finished her sentence she gave Cassie a wink and left, just as swiftly as she entered.
