Last Resort

There's this society. A society in which, everything revolves around one thing. Books. No matter what it is, it's always revolved around words being written or read.

You can come here and find just about anything you're searching for. Fan fictions about One Direction, Shawn Mendes, or even about other books here! There's Sci-Fi, Romance, Vampires, Royalty, everything you could ever imagine.

Unfortunately with this, there also comes groups. Like, how in most places you find classes, like low, middle, or high. Here, there's Readers, Writers, and Admins (which are kinda like the government). We even have Celebrity's, which are usually Writers, who get movies made out of their books.

So much goes into this society. The natives like to call it Wattland. Some may recognize it, some not. We have a lot of visitors just to get a feel for it, but they end up staying here.

Our society is sectioned off by genre. Where each of the Readers live. If we want to read another story in a different genre, we usually have to go to their Discover, to look for things we need.

Now if you're wondering, I'm a Reader. My whole family has been Readers. We just stay in our own little world, where as the Writers are always busy, we prefer to relax and enjoy life. Reading has always been a huge passion of mine, but I also secretly love to write. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, how cliché. And I know, I've read enough books to know that it's cliché.

My family doesn't make much money as Readers. We get a dollar a comment from our Writers that we do passionately are dedicated to. But, because my family isn't huge on talking, and more reading. We don't comment much.

Well, they don't. I do. The more comments, the more money I make for the family. But, that's what I want them to think. That I make my money from comments.

My name was suddenly called into our Library. I quickly rushed from my spot in my Profile to the Library.

"Yes, Mom?" I smiled, reading her face as she continued reading a current Update.

"Sweetie, I need you to run to Discover to get more groceries. We don't have anything to eat tonight."

"Of course! I'll be back in a short few." Dashing off, I ran outside and got in my car.

Because we live in Teen Fiction, I decided to go to Sci-Fi for groceries today. As I drove, I saw riots. Riots of Readers, on Comment street. They held up signs, I couldn't read.

I drove past them, when I got a glimpse of a sign. It says "Reads for AW!"

Oh, I knew what this was. It was a band of Readers called "Amateur Writers". They were all previous Readers, but got inspiration some how, and started writing. But weren't getting enough Readers to read their stories, so they rioted in comments, asking for reads. Writers got angry, Readers were conflicted.

It was a huge mess, that's why I kept to myself. That's why I hid from them, and kept myself as a Reader. But, what I wanted. I wanted to write, and I did. But very selfishly, and very little. Updating every so often when my parents weren't home.

I continued on the toad to Sci-Fi. But the riots seemed to be getting longer and longer. More AW's seem to come together.

I sighed. Maybe it wasn't a good day to drive this way. As a last resort, I decided to take the short cut through Writers block. It didn't usually affect me, because I was a Reader. So, I didn't think much of it.

Writers block always scared me, every time I went through it. All of these glum, sad, colorless Writers. They had notepads, and phones, just waiting for inspiration to spark.

Every so often, you'd get to witness the inspiration strike. It was a blast of color, and they ran as fast as they could back to their houses to write.

It was quite the sight, indeed. When I passed through here, sometimes it would hurt my writing, but because it wasn't so much a big deal to me, I just wouldn't update for a while until it was gone.

But on this particular day, I felt weird going down Writers block. It was a strange feeling of sorts. I really hoped it wouldn't be that much of a problem.
