Don't Stop Believin Book 2 to Believe

Nineteen

 A  month had passed since  Steph's treatments ended and we were set to see the doctor for a follow up

She was still weak and struggled daily to do small things but I was grateful that she was still here with me and our family Nothing could replace her and that's what mattered the most to me

I walked into our room to see if Steph was ready for the visit and found her crying

Wrapping her in my arms I held her until the crying subsided .

"We have to ger ready for the doctor babe "I whispered gently

"I'm scared " she whimpered

Two words and I was done 

I knew that she was terrified that the treatments hadn't worked or that the cancer was fighting back with a vengeance but I couldn't let her go there I couldn't let it win

Steph had to stay positive that it was going to be okay I had to keep her positive so that she wouldn't stress .I didn't feel like I was doing my job as her husband when I found her crying like now.

"C'mon baby let's get to the doctor and see what he has to say "

The drive to the office was silent as I watched her silently try to keep it together

The receptionist greeted us and the nurse led us to the exam room right away

After taking Steph's vitals the nurse excused herself and we were alone to wait for the doctor.

After a ten minute wait the doctor entered the room

"Everything looks good .All your scans are showing no cancer so it looks like the treatments worked I'll require another scan in thirty days just to check on everything "

I felt Steph let out a breath beside me

I couldn't help but sigh myself

Maybe this nightmare was finally over

When the doctor left the room Steph broke down and I wrapped my arms around her holding her while she fell apart

"Is it really over ?"she sobbed as she buried her face in my chest

"It is baby now we can get our life back "I assured her before kissing her  

The drive home Steph snuggled into Jordan's side as he drove through the city streets

"I can't believe it no more treatments "

"Now we can concentrate on our family and getting you healthy again "Jordan said as he held her hand

"I want to make love to my husband first " Steph whispered shyly

"We can do that too "I chuckled

When I pulled into their driveway Steph climbed into my lap

"I love you thank you for going with me it meant a lot "

"I wouldn't have left you hanging baby it was important "

I led her into the house and straight to our bedroom

The kids were with Tom so we had the house all to ourselves

I caressed her cheek before kissing her passionately  

I worked the buttons on her blouse as I began to undress her slowly

Steph pulled my shirt over my head and kissed my chest

We kissed passionately as she worked my belt buckle and pulled my pants and boxers down in one swift motion

Soon we were naked before one another

"I love you " she whispered as I claimed her mouth for another kiss

We made love slowly as we explored one another's bodies like it was the first time all over again

When we finished Steph snuggled into my arms and kissed my chest

"I'm so glad we met "I told her as I gripped her closer to me

"You sure ? I mean this wasn't part of the plan "

"Baby life throws us curveballs it isn't perfect, We can get through anything "

Steph nuzzled closer into my arms

"I never thought that someone like you would ever love someone like me and when we met I thought it would be a one time thing .I never thought that you would ever want someone like me and here we are together with our family and I still feel like it's a dream until I'm in your arms ."

"You gotta stop questioning us .We're past that baby I'm not going anywhere I fell in love with you "

Steph sighed contentedly and kissed me not saying another word

"You have all of me baby I'm just a regular guy with faults and hang ups just like everyone else you should know that by now "

"I do but sometimes it feels like I'm in a dream "

I kissed her and stroked her breast "This is not a dream "

She giggled and took me in her hand

"I love being able to touch you whenever I want to"she whispered huskily

"Touch away "I murmured as I felt myself harden

We began to make love again and I felt her relax.

It was in these moments that I knew we would be okay
