"And you really thought I wouldn't find out and get mad for you not inviting me? You're own flesh and blood?" I rolled my eyes as Fa pouted, crossing his arms and glaring at me with his act of hurt.
"I mean technically, there aren't any blood relations between us, because my uncle is married to your uncle, and our parents aren't even related whatsoever," I replied, earning a small punch from the elder. He was trying his best, I could tell, but his frame was just too slim to leave a lasting mark on me.
"Not the point! I'm coming with and you know it!" He announced, storming off to pack his bag. I just sighed and shook my head at his childishness.
"Who's going to watch Hao?" I asked once he returned. He wore a confident smile upon his face as he walked out to Hongjoong's ride to the airport.
"Your brother Jisung will. And if he doesn't want to, Uncle Jisung will." He said, throwing his bag in and hopping inside.
I followed after him and smiled as they greeted each other happily, the long lost friends reunited again. The car drove off, and we were on our way to the airport that would take us to the other side of the world.
"Hey, I forgot to say I liked your new hair. It's different from last time, right?" Fa said as he looked to me, earning a nod.
"A little less blonde, a little pinker," I explained, making him chuckle.
"One of these days I'm going to do mine as well. Maybe not as crazy, but it does look fun." The elder replied, looking out of the window to watch the houses and businesses fly past us as we sped down the road. "Korea is so pretty. I'm glad we came to visit just in time before you left, Hongjoong."
"No problem, hyung. I'm happy you could come with us! Now I won't feel as lonely with two friends!" The younger said in response, a smile on his face.
Within thirty minutes we were all on the plane, our nerves and excitement battling for the forefront. Fa got the window seat, which made me pout because I'd never been on a plane before. Hongjoong demanded the end seat so that he could run to the bathroom faster, and that made me groan because I was the tallest and I was being placed in the most uncomfortable spot ever - the middle seat.
"Oh, be warned. Youngjae is annoying. And his brother Chanyeol is just as bad." Hongjoong said before putting on his headphones and turning to go to sleep. "It's a long flight, you should get some sleep."
I turned to Fa, who's already fallen asleep, a small pout on his lips. It made me chuckle because he was adorable. I'd never seen him sleep because I was always already asleep before the elder went to bed.
Looking past him, I saw the skyline changing as we went higher and higher in the air. Everything looked so small, it made me feel even smaller, homesick even. It caused me to miss Soonbok a lot. I felt like I was abandoning her since I was the only one she'd go to with her nightmares.
"Soonbok, I hope you'll be okay," I whispered before falling asleep, the exhaustion caused by my worry taking over.
Twelve hours later we were in America, the first time for Fa and I. Hongjoong directed us to the car waiting for him, waiting to get in until we were settled.
"So you brought friends this time, Kyle?" The driver said, a smile on his face.
"Yeah, I didn't want to be lonely," Hongjoong replied, a smile upon his face as well. His attention turned to us after the driver took off. "I go by Kyle in the States, and Youngjae is Bradley. His brother Chanyeol is Charlie."
"Interesting," Fa muttered. "Do, do we have to use English names?"
"Nah, I don't think so. I mean, if you want to, you can. But everyone we'll be seeing knows Korean even, Kyungmi's husband." Kyubok explained, making us both sigh in relief.
"I really didn't want to. It's hard enough trying to say my name in Korean." Fa said, making me laugh. Kyubok looked between us in confusion. We just smiled and looked away from each other.
"Come on you guys, I can't understand Chinese." He pouted, crossing his arms and making himself even smaller than he already was.
"Fa was complaining about Korean being hard for him," I explained, making the elder laugh.
"Probably easier than Japanese. I heard you're learning it?" He replied, making me nod.
"I thinking helps that I know Chinese because Japanese shares some letters with it. But, then again, it's like English and French. Similar, yet completely different." I replied, earning chuckled from my elders as we pulled into the driveway of the house.
Fa and I gasped at the size of the house, never seeing such huge property owned by just one person before. We saw three people waiting for us at the door, a woman and two boys our age.
"Is that Charlie?" I asked, confused by the small one smiling shyly behind the other.
"Charlie will be arriving later tonight. But the missus is hosting an exchange student, Max." The driver said as he pulled to a stop.
We all got out, Fa and I bowing to the woman of the house as Hongjoong walked past the three people with no sign of respect. The woman stiffened and the boy beside her dropped his shoulders in defeat.
"Welcome, boys. I'm sure Hongjoong as introduced you to our names?" The woman asked, making the two of us nod.
"Yes ma'am. Nice to meet you, as well as Bradley here." Fa said, his cute little smile winning any argument of him not being happy. "My name is Zhang Fa and this is my cousin, Kim Hajoon."
"Nice to meet you boys. The one hiding is Max, he's from Thailand. I'm sure you'll get along while you're here." She said, turning to face the building. "Now, if you excuse me, I have some matters to attend to. Feel free to make yourselves at home. I have your rooms ready for you."
She walked away, leaving us four awkward teenagers standing on the stairs, unsure of what to say or do. I smiled towards the younger boy and put my hand out for him to shake.
"Bradley, right? It's nice to finally meet you. You're not as strange as Hongjoong described you to be." I told him, making him smile and laugh.
"I'm happy Kyle actually says anything about me. He really seems to hate me." He replied, looking down again. I ruffled his hair.
"Who cares if he hates you? His best friend is your friend too." I said, making him look up at me with hope written in his eyes. I smiled and he giggled with delight.
"Yay, I have two friends on the other side of the world! This is exciting!" He exclaimed while jumping up and down. "Max I have two friends now!"
"I'm happy, Bradley." He quietly said with a soft smile. "Shall I show you to your rooms?"
"Sounds good. It was a long flight." Fa said, a blush on his cheeks as Max smiled towards him. "Hajoon, I think I'm in love."
"I'm happy you think I'm cute." Fa became flustered as Max smiled at him again, this time a flirtatious smirk. "I am fluent in English, Korean, Mandarin, and of course Thai."
"I guess you can't sneakily tell me anything anymore," I told Fa, making him chuckle from embarrassment as we walked inside.
