Chapter 5
Oliver woke up slowly, keeping his eyes closed against the dappled light the tried to break through the leafy curtain of the cave. It had been a long time since he had slept so well, and he didn't want to waste a second of the intense relaxation. He could tell that Sen had left at some point in his sleep, as the furs had been draped over him and his back felt cold. Oliver felt a bit of an ache in his chest at the absence of the dark haired male.
Oliver stretched out in the fur, finally accepting wakefulness, his thin body shivering slightly in the morning hair that drifted from the cave's entrance. He felt oddly at peace this morning, no self-deprecating thoughts plagued his mind for once, and despite the flurry of recent events, he didn't feel scared at the moment.
"You're awake," Seneca's voice cut through the quiet as he parted the curtain of leaves, holding a pair of furry animals in one hand and what looked similar to bow in his other, "I went hunting before dawn, I'd hoped to return before you woke up though"
Oliver watched him move further into the cave, setting his bow down and moving to a spot further back where a fire pit seemed to be set up. Oliver, having never been a morning person, was still trying to shake the last remainders of sleep from his mind as he detangled his legs from the furs and crawled over to Seneca.
Leaning against the taller man's back, he peeked over his shoulder, noticing his body was once again covered in the green paint from their first encounter. He watched with slight interest as Seneca began to skin the two creatures, their fur looked softer than that of the rabbits back in his world. Out of curiosity, he reached out to poke at one of the discarded pelts Sen had pushed to the side.
"What are they?" He whispered, fingers running over the silky fur in fascination. He moved to sit opposite the other man, watching him work.
"Felies," He spoke absently as he set the prepped meat aside, striking a nearby stone to get a fire going in the pit. While fanning the small flame, he eyed Oliver, watching the boys fingers still playing with one of the pelts."They are soft, but nasty creatures. Though small, they are wickedly smart, moving in large numbers and attacking viciously." He lifted some of the discarded bones, showing Oliver the razor sharp fangs and barbed claws of the small creatures.
The boy shuddered, animals were something he adored back home, and if he'd been alone and come across one of these, he'd likely have tried to pet it. He pushed the fur away, no longer enjoying its feeling on his goose bump riddled skin.
"Is everything here dangerous?" He asked, honestly wondering if he was going to be watching his back for anything the moved in this new world.
A sharp bark of a laugh rang through the cave, startling Oliver as his eyes flew up to watch Seneca's body shaking with mirth. He stared, wide eyed, having not seen this much emotion on the others face before.
"No," Sen chuckled, coming down from his fit, "not everything is dangerous Oli. There are many docile beings you have yet to see. When we meet my family, I will introduce you to some, as they keep a few in the village."
Oliver felt a twitch of anxiety start up in his gut, twisting up his chest as remember what Sen had said about meeting his people today. The boy let out a shaky breath, trying to be subtle about it, but after witnessing Seneca's transformation, he had the feeling the man could hear any noises he made, no matter how quiet. As he had that thought, Sen spoke again,
"While we are there, if you find one of the animals to your liking, I would not be opposed to keeping one here with us." His voice had garnered the soft rumbling tone from the night before, which, Oliver realized, was meant to soothe him.
"Thank you..." He replied, smiling a bit at the others obvious care for his emotional well-being. It had been a while since someone had shown him so much care, and he found it somewhat difficult to accept.
Sen stood, swiftly moving the other boys side, scooping him up into his arms, before returning to his seat by the fire, holding him in his lap. He set the now skewered meat against the flames and pulled back to wait, arms circling Oliver's waist while fingers brushed over his skin in small circles. They sat in silence for a moment, both watching the flames dance around the meat as the rich smell began to fill the cave. After a bit, Oliver felt fingers brush over one of his deeper scars, jolting him out of his calm as he recalled their interrupted conversation from the night before. He tensed, waiting for some kind of comment as the dark haired man continued his soft circular motions. A warm hand traveled up to Oli's fading blue hair, running over the fluffy locks in deep thought, before exhaling slowly and pulling the small male against his chest.
"It has not been long since you came here, so you do not know the ways of my people or my kind. You will know more once you meet them, but for now let me explain a very important thing," He shifted Oliver around to face him now, blue iridescent eyes seeming to penetrate into Oliver's mind while he continued stroke through the boy's hair.
"My people are a cautious type, we do not take to strangers easily, and often seclude ourselves from even our own kind; however, when one of us finds our mate, we form an instant bond, one that lasts for our entire life span. This bond often defies our reclusive nature, making us fixate our every instinct on the other." Sen watched Oliver's face closely, gauging his reaction carefully."U-um, what? Or uh, why are you t-telling me this?" Olive stuttered, the intense atmosphere making him nervous, his eyes flitting to and away from Seneca's own.
"Oli, you are my mate, and as such, I cannot bare the idea of you in pain, especially not by your own hand..." His voice was strained at the end, both his hands now running over Oliver's marred arms in a way that had tears rolling down Oliver's cheeks.
"How" He started, breath hitching a bit, "how do you know?" Oliver struggled to form words, his mind desperately wanting to believe that someone want him, that there was a person meant just for him. "I-I'm not even from this world, w-what if you're wrong?"
"I'm not wrong!" Sen gripped both of Oliver's wrists, holding them against his own chest, the look on his face was one of absolute conviction. "From the moment our eyes met I felt the pull! I don't know how your kind live or what world you came from but you were brought here, and that is not a mistake. I promise, I can feel it in my deepest depths, you were meant for me."
Sen place a hand on either side of Oliver's face, violet eyes meeting shining grey, and in a moment their lips were crashing together. It was hungry and violent, Sen forcing his tongue between Oli's wet lips, licking into the small boy's mouth with such passion that Oliver found it difficult to do much else but simply feel. His hands gripped onto Seneca's golden arms, breath coming in panting gasps as he whined into the kiss.
Seneca broke away first, much to Oliver's displeasure, as his little friend had perked up a great deal from the passionate display of affection.
"Please, Oliver, believe me," Sen begged.
"I believe you." The pale boy sighed, blushing as he noticed Sen gazing down at his little problem. He moved to cover it, before feeling another quick brush of lips against his forehead.
"Don't hide, I like seeing your body react to mine," Sen smirked a bit, but didn't move to do anything more that pull the now, almost over cooked, meat from the dimming fire.
Oliver flushed from his cheeks all the way down his neck, wiggling a bit in Seneca's lap as he tried to adjust his compromising position. Though he let out a small huff at the lack of physical attention, causing a soft chuckle to come from the taller male.
"We need to eat now, but later, I will shower you with my attentions" He stuffed a small piece of juicy meat into Oliver's slightly gaping mouth, smiling contentedly.
