Wednesdays were usually the worst days for Madison, having to work more hours and finishing Chemistry and Maths homework for Thursday’s classes.
It was around eight in the evening when she returned home. After locking the motorcycle in the old garage, Madison made her way towards the front door, but when she tried to open it it was locked on the inside of the house.
That could only mean one thing.
Walking into the small backyard, the brunette climbed up with the help of a few bricks and opened the window to step in. It was no hard task, since she had to do that quite often.
Madison left the backpack on the floor and closed the window again, then changed into more comfortable clothes. She was dying to take a shower, but she wouldn't dare lo leave her room while her dad was having some chick with him.
She could hear the headboard slamming against the wall next to her, just disgusting. If the man was drunk or high, Madison knew this could go for a while longer, and she couldn't keep listening to it anymore.
Grabbing the guitar, she started to play a few random chords. Anything that could possibly silence all the noises going on in the next room.
A couple of minutes later, she thought she had a consistent basis, writing them down on her notebook alongside with some sketches and random words.
“I’m unstable, I am stained...” Madison whispered softly, playing the same chords and trying to fit a lyrics within it. “Stained by you... oh-oh...”
Starting from the begging, and with a few scratched words all over the paper, the brunette had a few lines that could do it with the chords.
Now I'm stained by you
Like a coffee ring upon this table
I'm unstable, I am stained by you
Like a goddamn soldier that just can't forget the battle. You had a way of making me feel special,
Then take it away and say I wasn't special, no
And now it's messed up
That bad kind of love is the only thing that makes me better
Yeah, you had your way
I'm trying to pull myself togetherKnowing she could work on those lyrics another time, Madison closed the notebook and placed it back on her nightstand. She was exhausted already, wanting nothing more but to fall into a deep sleep and leave the day behind.
When her door opened and hit the wall so abruptly, the girl jolted and felt a creeping sensation arising from her very spine.
“What is wrong with you, eh!?” John dragged his words harshly, standing on Madison's room covered only by his boxers. The sight of him drunk and looking at her with so much anger made Madison want to die right then and there.
“I-I don't know wh–”
“Shut the fuck up! You and your stupid music, I’m so fucking tired of you!” As he walked closer, she wrapped her arms around her knees and her whole body trembled. “Oh, so now you are going to be quiet? I don't think so, I'll give you a fucking reason to be loud.”
Madison saw how John grabbed her guitar from the bed and her heart started to beat fast. “No! Please, dad, please... Mom gave it to me, plea–” Before another word could leave her mouth, he was slamming the instrument against the wall until it was irreversibly broken. “Stop! Dad, please!”
“Do you know why your mommy left? Huh? She couldn't stand you, so annoying and pathetic, I should've let you die that day.”
Big hands were pulling the brunette’s hair and pulling her to the floor, the vivid cut in her cheek still bleeding and her swollen eye still throbbing. She was so used to it, yet she could feel everything as if it was the first time.
