I heard through the grapevine that Echo had been lying low since Mr Crepsley and I skipped town. Nobody had heard from her at all, though the rumour was that somebody had been seen messing around with the Feymera interface, trying to interact with the Database apparently.
For a while, Mr Crepsley and I travelled together. During the day, we slept rough in abandoned buildings, old churches and suchlike - except when I had to go out hunting to fetch food for us both. You see, vampires cannot survive on blood alone. We need regular food too, especially half vampires like me.
In the night, we travelled. I rarely stopped to ask him where we were going; Mr Crepsley didn't like questions. I simply hopped on his back and he flitted until we found a suitable place to stop and rest.
Some nights, though, we didn't travel. Instead, he taught me all about being a half vampire, in exchange for stories of the what there was outside of Earth. He enjoyed my tales of the Sunset Forest and the Database. We learned much of each other's lives, though he kept many close guarded secrets.Eventually, while cleaning out madam Octa's cage, I mustered the courage to explain to Mr Crepsley that I really didn't enjoy travelling this fast, in this manner. I always dreamed of seeing the world, but not like this. I asked him to where we would be going.
"I had plans to investigate some suspicious activity around my hometown, but given what you have just said," his eyes softened slightly and he gave me a weak smile. "I think I have just decided where we will be going."
"Where?" I questioned eagerly.
"Back to the Cirque du Freak..."** A/N: Sorry it's such a short one. I just had to fill some time. You'll see why next chapter. **
