Shane's Story

After a few hours of rest, I had finally awoken and we were all listening to Shane telling us all what he could remember. Chinatsu and I both felt that everything he was telling us was a lie, but when I read his mind, I found nothing. It was like his mind had been completely erased. I tried to find out from him, who would do something like that to him, but I couldn't think of anything and he wasn't much help to me either.

We continued to question Shane as much as possible, determined to find out what his side of the story was. I was praying - not really - that he would be able to tell us something, or anything, that could be of use to us. I knew his mind was empty so my hopes of him being able to tell us anything were dwindled down to almost nothing.
"What do you remember Shane?" Sophia questioned him.
"Well..." He started to say, "I remember that Zakura had found me when I had not long been forced to watch my parents being killed right in front of me."
"Then what happened?" I questioned, curious to find out if anything he would tell us would relate to Zakura himself. There was something about Shane's story that made me believe that Zakura had something to do with his parents' deaths and the loss of his memory.
"He was the one to take care of me for a long time and..." He stopped for a few minutes. "And then I... I don't remember. The next thing I seen was you lot, and that I remember I had been fighting you all."
"I wonder why you can't remember anything after being looked after by Zakura for so long." Chinatsu thought as she was thinking out loud to herself. I read her mind and it seemed like she was thinking the exact same thing as me. This was all Zakura's doing.
"Maybe Zakura has done something to him." Jason said. "Seeing as everything that has been said so far has Zakura somewhere within the story."
"You think Zakura erased Shane's memories, or changed them, or at least done something to them?" I questioned looking towards Jason, who just nodded in return.
"Yes."
"But why?" Hiroki said, after having been quiet for so long.
"We'll have to try and figure it out, or find out from Zakura himself." Sophia suggested. Although, I could tell she thought the latter was the worst idea possible. Sophia and Shadow were hiding something about Zakura that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Every time I tried reading their minds I would hear a little bit of information, and then silence. It's as if they could tell I was reading their minds and prevented me from hearing something that I wasn't supposed too.
"Right." All of us agreed. But one thing was stuck on my mind; how were we going to find out anything from Zakura if we didn't even know where he was hiding, or what he truly looked like?

********

Not long after I had ordered Yarray to kill Shane's family - and I had taken Shane under my wing, hoping that he would be of some use to me - I had made sure to remove his memories, and edit them slightly so he wouldn't realise that I was the main reason for his family's deaths, and his survival. I despised that school and everyone at it, and one way or another; they were all going to die. Die a slow, painful, bloody, violent and horrendous death. Especially Aaron and Amelia Robbins.

*********

Shane had told us everything he could remember, even down to the smallest details, but there was nothing that would help us figure out who removed some of his memories. We had all decided that when we could, we would go to the library and find out if there was a spell that would allow people to remove memories, and if there was a certain element required to be able to do so.

I headed to the library later on with Jason and Chinatsu, spending hours upon hours searching and looking through as many books as we could within the one day. Nothing. We had found nothing until Jason found a book relating to all of the elemental powers and what spells could be cast if the user had a specific element.
"So what does it say?" Chinatsu questioned.
"Well," Jason started to say, "It says that each element has certain spells that they can perform." He said, while reading from the book.
"Like...?" She said, getting rather bored of all this research and just wanting to go back to the dorms and relax within her wolf form.
"Like..." Jason mocked, rolling his eyes smirking, before carrying on. "Ice Powers are able to create barriers of ice that are able to protect not just the caster, but a large area, say the area of the school grounds." He explained.
"Wow." She said, as her eyes widened in surprise. She was easily impressed by things, which some people didn't know about her. Of course, I knew it."
"So what powers can remove, or at least do something to a person's mind?" I asked him.
"Dark Powers." He simply answered. "And there has only been one person within the school's history who can use dark powers, and guess who that is." He sighed.
Within unison, both Chinatsu and I answered. "Zakura."
"Correct." He nodded.

So we had finally found out that Zakura had something to do with whatever had happened to Shane's memories, but we still didn't know why. We just had to hope that the others would be able to find out something, or Shane would somehow remember something, before Zakura attacked the school again. He had once before attacked the school, and had vanished not long after being defeated by the heads of the school - Aaron and Amelia Robbins.
