"Falling from cloud nine.
Crashing from the high
I'm letting go tonight
Yeah, I'm falling from cloud nine
I'm wide awake"
(From Katy Perry's Hit Song "Wide Awake")

Ashlee:

I look in the mirror and see someone different. I see someone strong, but I'm not that strong. I see someone brave, but I'm not that brave. I see someone handsome, but I don't see myself as handsome. I keep looking and remember the dream I had last night. I was in the woods, not another soul to be seen. I look and see myself in my black tank top, basketball shorts, and I'm barefoot. It is cold; cold enough that I can see my breath every few seconds. I begin to walk, the ground surprisingly soft against my feet. I hear the snap of a twig and turn around as quick as I can. Nothing.

I keep my guard up, not wanting to get comfortable for one second. I keep walking through the forest, fog surrounding me as I continue into some dense trees. Once I'm inside them, I hear the twig again. I scan my surroundings and finally see something. I see a figure with long blonde hair. I open my mouth to speak, but no words come out. The figure then turns towards me and I recognize the face. Then, before anything else could have happened, I was wide awake, breathing hard, and drenchted in sweat.

After I had taken a shower, that's when I looked in my mirror and saw this person I didn't recognize. I don't know why I think that though. Maybe it's just something about puberty or something. I mean, I'm sixteen already, but can't some things happen late? I shake of the feeling and run my fingers through my hair. I grab my backpack and head on down stairs. I look and see my mom Miranda making breakfast, my dad Shawn reading the newspaper, my older brother Tanner texting his girlfriend, and my older sister Skylar checking her hair in the hallway mirror.

"I'm off.", I said, trying to reach the door before anyone could stop me. But, I failed. "Wait a minute Ashlee! You know the rules about this time of the year. Be...", my mom began, waving her spatula at me. But, I weant ahead and finished for her. "Be home before sunset. I know mom.", I said, starting out the door again, but got stopped once more. "Hold up there baby bro. You're walking with us.", Tanner said, his arms folded and Skylar's hands on her hips. I sighed, put my jacket's hood over my head, and walked out the door with Tanner and Skylar walking right behind me.
