"Hey Megan! What are you doing after school?" Emily Watts said.

"Oh, its my dads birthday, and I have to hang out with him." Megan Smith replied.

It wasn't really, but Emily didn't know that. Megan never really enjoyed hanging out with people after school, because she found something she likes doing better. Talking to the dead.

When Megan was five, she had a near death experience as her parents call it. But she knows their was nothing near about it. Her parents had taken her to their cottage for the summer, like they always did. They sat on the dock, Megan near the edge playing with her toys. Her mom was watching her, making sure she didn't go to close to the end. After a while, her mom figured she wouldn't get in any trouble. "Chris, I'm going to talk a shower. Please keep an eye on Megan for me." She said to her husband. He said "Okay, Have fun." Waving her off, clearly not listening to her, but to his ipod. She rolled her eyes and walked upstairs. Megan noticed her absence, and although young, she was smart enough to know she could take advantage of that. Her parents never took her swimming, so she decide to try on her own. She carefully pulled off her clothes, and quietly slipped into the water, not wanting her dad to see her. She quickly realized that she couldn't swim, and started splashing around and trying to get her dad to notice. But unfortunately he though it was just a seagull, and turned up his music louder. Megan was starting to get tired of trying to keep her head above the water. She started to go under, and let the water pull her.

To this day, She doesn't know what it was, but her mother felt like she had to go check on Megan. She got out of the shower, and threw on the clothes she had on before. She ran down the stairs and just saw Megan go under. She screamed, ran and jumped into the water. She paddled out to Megan, who had floated out really far, and pulled her back into shore. By this time, Megan's dad had started to pay attention, and ran over to where her mom had laid her down. She was unconscious. They rushed her over to the local hospital, and they tried everything, but couldn't revive her. Her parents weren't allowed in the room, so they didn't know. They were about to announce the time of death, when the machine started pumping up. "Did you touch the machine or the girl?" The Doctor asked the Nurse. She shook her head. They couldn't come up with a reason, but she was alive, and that was all that mattered. They both agreed not to tell the parents she had died, illegal or not. They said she needed to stay for a few nights, with no guests. So the parents went back to the cottage.

Megan didn't wake up until three days after. That was the first night that she talked to the Ghosts. Ever since that night, She's been able to see and communicate with them. No one knows she can talk to ghosts, and only her, the doctor and the nurse know that she had died. They never told anyone.

Her parents sold the cottage, alone with its horrible memories , and bought one closer to home. They never talked about her drowing with her, fearing it would bring on questions they wouldn't be able to answer. They also prayed she forgot.

She didn't.
