Me; written Aug 25th 2014

I've been taught

"it's okay to want things

So long as it's normal to want them."

I say to hell with that.

We're all human

We have wants.

I want to be able to come with a beautiful woman

And be unafraid to say "We're in love"

I want to talk about how I don't feel like a girl or a boy

Without my chest being pointed out.

I want to dress in a skirt and thank top

Without feeling like I've done something wrong.

I want to be unafraid of my future

Look at the years ahead of me with hope

Instead of fear.

I want it to be okay to make friends

Who live miles away,

And I want them to be okay.

I want my body to be mine

And not anyone else's.

I want to be able to say 'no' to those close to me

And have them understand that's my final answer.

I want to not be afraid anymore.

Is that too much to ask?
