Tick. Tick. Tick.
The clock's loud ticking and the uncomfortable knot in my gut woke me up. With my half-closed eyes, I headed towards the bathroom.
I sighed in annoyance when I saw the dark red stain in my underwear. I should have seen it coming. On changing into a new undie, I looked at the stained fabric beside my feet.
The longer I stared, the more uneasy I felt.
When I felt the familiar pain in my chest, I forced myself to look away. Staring at the reflection of my blood-shot eyes in the mirror, tears began to roll down my cheeks.
"It's gonna be alright", I told myself.

I knew I was extremely late seeing the empty hallway. I forgot my watch and spectacles; two things without which I feel naked. The lack of coffee and my hormones being all around the place did not help the situation. If I was to attend class, I'd have to explain the teacher why I was late. That meant the entire class setting their focus on me; something I'd not like to handle.
So instead, I walked in the opposite direction towards the library. I was so engrossed in the novel that I had lost track of time.
"Ma'am, can you tell me what the time is?", I gently asked the librarian.
"It is Ten O'clock dear"
I had already missed two classes! I rushed out of the library and sprinted towards my locker. As I neared my destination, I saw Matt pacing around looking tensed.
"What are you doing here?", I asked confusedly.
"Where the hell have you been? I searched for you everywhere", he said frustrated.
"In the library. Anything important?"
His frustrated face immediately turned into a frown.
"It's your mother. You got a call from the hospital few minutes back. She met with an accident", he told leaving me breathless.
"Are..are you sure it's..it's my mom?", I asked .
He gently placed his hands on my shoulders and told me,"Yes"
Tears filled my eyes and I ran past the watching crowd.
