Chris exits the front door of his house, carrying both his and April's suitcases. He passes by Nate, Astrid and April who're conversing on the front porch. Steven is at the trunk of the car, helping load the baggage.
Approaching the trunk, he says to Steven, "When April said she had a lot to pack, she wasn't kidding."
"Girls and their never-ending baggage," Steven jokes.
"You're lucky you don't have to go through this. Nate's a tiny person. He doesn't need much."
"That's true, I lucked out."
Chris glances at their friends then back at Steven. "Hey, how's Nate been? You know, since..."
"Yeah, yeah. Um he's okay I guess. Doesn't really talk about it much. But then again I guess he doesn't have to because your Dad is behind bars now, where he's supposed to be."
"Yeah, I hear ya." Chris leans on the van. "We're not the same after that night. I think...I think we're kind of fucked up."
"Having an abusive parent isn't exactly pretty."
"No, it's not."
Steven too leans on the van, his arm stretched out towards it. He glances at his friends on the porch then back at Chris.
"How are you doing?"
Chris turns his head, "Could be better."
"Well, I'm sure this romantic getaway April has planned will put all your stress at ease."
Chris rolls his eyes then says, "I'm only doing this for her."
"Hey, I wish Nate had a cottage up North we could run away to. I'd give anything to just spend a weekend alone with him. You guys are gonna have a good time."
On cue, the rest of the Shooting Stars come down from the front porch, April joining hands with Chris and Nate joining hands with Steven. Astrid stands in the middle between both couples, her arms crossed.
"You ready for the most relaxing long weekend of your life?" April smiles looking up at her hockey player boyfriend.
Chris smooches his girlfriend on the cheek then proceeds to say, "As long as I'm with you, I'm always ready."
"That's so cliché, and you know it," Nate rolls his eyes at his brother.
Chris can't help grin. April does the same. Ignoring Nate's diss, Astrid says to the couple, "Well, nonetheless, I hope you guys have a blast. It'll be complete and utter relaxation."
"That's what I said!" Steven exclaims.
Chris and April start to say their goodbyes. After hugging Astrid, April comes face to face with Nate. The two hold each other's hands tightly then naturally come together in a hug.
"I think this is going to be good for him, Nate. I think...I think this is really gonna be good for him."
"I'm sure he's gonna love the lake, the canoeing, and whatever else you have planned."
"I'm just so happy right now. Just look at him Nate."
The two glance over to Grayson, chatting away with Macavoy and Park. Nate smiles, seeing his younger brother alive and well.
"Just a month ago he was on life support. Now look at him."
"Well, we are miracle children."
April rolls her eyes and scoffs, "Okay, show off."
Nate giggles as April walks away to give Steven a hug goodbye. Chris turns around to see his brother smiling at his girlfriend, whose hugging his boyfriend.
