The studying was going well. We even finished earlier than planned, thanks to my study guides. After that, Rien started helping me out with some of the classes that I was having trouble with, mainly English.

Today was the last session of the break. We had just finished another chapter of the English study guide book that I had, and were taking a break.

Emma: "Why is English, of all classes, so hard?!"

Rien: "Hey, I have an idea. In exchange for helping you study, shouldn't I get a reward in exchange?"

Emma: "What? How is that fair? I helped you out too!"

Rien: "Yeah, but it's not like I had to help you out. I just did it because I wanted to."

Emma: "Well it's not like I had to help you either. I couldn't care less if you failed all your classes."

Rien: "Fine then. We can both get a reward."

Emma: "That's still not good enough. I should get 3 times greater of a reward than you."

Rien: "That's fine with me."

Emma: "So, anyways,... what did you want as a reward?

Rien: "...I don't know. I hadn't thought about it much."

Emma: "What? Tell me! It better be something I can actually give you."

Rien: "Alright then," he said with a bit of a smirk.

Uh-oh. I'm pretty sure I'll regret asking for 3 times the reward.

Rien: "How about ... ... ... a kiss?"

Emma: "What?"

I could feel my face turn red. He said it while looking me straight in the eyes. I couldn't tell if he was joking or not. I could never tell with that smile that was always on his face.

Emma: "Are you serious?"

Rien: "What if I say I'm not kidding?"

Emma: "Your not supposed to answer a question with a question."

Rien: "Fine. I'm not joking."

His blue-green eyes seemed piercing, and I could feel my heart rate speed up. His smile seemed to grow even bigger on his face. I tried to calm down but it was impossible in this situation.

I slowly leaned forward, we were only inches away, my Heart was pounding in my chest. I lightly kissed him on the cheek. Then I quickly jumped backwards towards my chair, it skidded backwards from the force.

When I finally remembered how to breath, I realized my entire body was shaking. When I looked up, I wasnt surprised to see his smile still bright on his face. As long as I've known him, I'd never once seen his smile waver. At least, not when he was facing me. He was the only person I knew who was so hard to read. I never knew what he was thinking because of that smile.

But it seemed a bit different now. Some thing felt strange. His Eyes. They looked a bit strange. They looked brighter, and sharper, but at the same time, they were glassed over and misty. There was an indescribable vibrant-dullness to them. Looking at them made me feel as if something in me had just shattered.

His smile turned into a bit more of a smirk, there wasn't much of his usual sincerity behind the expression. The change startled me, and I sat up straight in my chair, for once. I had mostly stopped shaking, but my heart rate still hadn't gone back to normal, and this really didnt help at all.

Rien: "I expected you to do something like that. Now it's your turn, right?"

Yup, I was right. This would make me regret asking for the reward. But something really seemed off.
