"Wait, what?"
"Hiccup, go. I'll lead them away so you'll have a chance at leaving the island."
"No! I'm not leaving you here!"
"That's not your decision to make. Go."
Hiccup stared at y/n with his lips slightly parted, disagreement written on his face.
"Hiccup, please. If we fail this, only the Gods know how long it'll take before we get a chance like this again."
The boy looked away in frustration. The sound of dragon hunters shouting in the distance caught both of their attention.
Y/n grabbed Hiccup's hand and firmly placed the Dragon Eye in his palm, wrapping his fingers around it. He looked up at her."Take it. Regroup with the others. If everything went according to plan they'll be waiting down at the beach."
"The plan wasn't to use you as bait!"
"We don't have a choice!" y/n raised her voice. He went quiet.
The Dragon Hunter's shouts were getting closer, and although they weren't visible through the trees they weren't far.Hiccup turned back towards y/n as they made eye contact once again. She could make out every detail in his worried eyes, even the small dots of brown in his olive orbs.
"Go." she repeated.
Unwillingly he finally obeyed, turned and ran to Toothless who's ears were pricked in alarm.
Once he had mounted the dragon he looked back at y/n one last time."I'll be fine. I promise."
He nodded to her before Toothless unsheathed his wings and with a strong flap left the ground, taking off into the sky and disappearing between the tree tops.
"There!"
A Dragon Hunter had spotted her a few yards away. Three more appeared behind him, spears and swords in hand.
Y/n immediately took off in the opposite direction Hiccup had left her, forcing the hunters to follow as a chase began.I have to find d/n, fast, she thought.
She hopped over moss covered rocks and swiftly slipped between the dense trees, cautious of the many roots littering the ground.
But she was careful not to lose the dragon hunters, making sure she could always hear their frustrated voices. She only had to lead them as far away from the rest of the gang as possible before then getting herself to safety.~
Hiccup was relieved to see the rest of the gang waiting at the beach. Stormfly immediately acknowledged Toothless's return with a squawk, catching Astrid's attention.
"He's back!" she announced to the rest of the gang.
"And he has the Dragon Eye!" Fishlegs cheered.
Toothless landed with a thud in the sand, shaking his head to rid of the small stones.
"Good, can we go now?" Snotlout rushed to say, annoyed but obviously longing to leave the island.
"But.. where's y/n?" Astrid asked.
"She gave us a head start," Hiccup replied before it went quiet for a moment.
"Let's go."
Without another word the gang left the island and flew after Hiccup.~
Y/n's lungs started to ache and her legs were getting weak. She considered it about time to get out of there.
Whilst continuing to run, she placed two fingers in her mouth and created a high-pitched whistling call. Not long after a loud familiar roar was heard further ahead.
A grin of relief spread across her face, knowing she was going to leave the island.
But out of nowhere another hunter appeared to her right, tackling her to the ground. Her cheek collided with the dirt in a pained grunt. She continued to fight, trying to get a good enough angle to punch him in the nose. But with his weight on top of her and both of her hands now held behind her back, she was overpowered. In the distance she could hear her dragon roaring in distress followed by multiple shouts before he fell silent. Oh no.
