All the weirdos in front of me blanched. Even Weird guy #1, or Kai, who seemed especially shocked. "This guy? Seriously?" I was a little offended, but more so, I worried about what they wanted with me. Most people in this town barely knew who I was, let alone tried to find me. And aside from that, I was having a hard time believing this interesting group lived in our dull town.
Weird guy #3, the largest one, finally spoke up. His voice was a lot less harsh than the others that had talked. "Are you sure? Maybe there's another Lukas Morgan who lives here?" His tone was kind, but his words? Not so much. Was I not good enough for these people? Who even were these people?
"As far as I know, I'm the only one." I said, folding my arms across my chest. They were beginning to annoy me, honestly. I needed to get to whatever it was that fell from the sky and they were kind of holding me up.
Kai tapped Weird guy #2's shoulder, and whispered to him, Weird guy #3, and Weird girl. "Shen, are we sure it's this town? Maybe the coordinates were wrong. It could happen."
They said some other things, but this time the hushed tone was effective and I couldn't make it out. Then Weird guy #2, who I thought was Shen, turned to me. "Lukas, how old are you?" Why did they need to know that? Who are they?
"Seventeen." I responded, not really knowing why.
Kai let out a loud groan. "Shit. Guys, this is probably the guy." All of them, except Weird guy #3, sighed loudly. Then Kai pointed to the truck. "Is this your truck?" I nodded, a regrettable decision. He roughly grabbed my forearm and reached into my pocket to take out the keys.
He then threw the keys to Shen, still not letting go of my arm. "Hey, wait a second!" I shouted as Kai and Shen dragged me to the truck and pushed me in the backseat.
I'm being kidnapped. Oh my God, I'm being kidnapped. It actually happened and now I'm going to be tortured and killed and buried in some remote location. I'll never see my family again, just because I decided to tell some strangers my name. God, I'm such an idiot--
"Can you shut up, please? Thank you." Kai yelled from the front seat. I realized that I'd actually been saying all that stuff out loud. "We aren't kidnapping you, chill out."
Weird girl shrugged next to me. "I mean, we kind of are." My eyes widened in alarm.
"Not helping, Pres!" Shen yelled, taking a left turn. It looked like we were heading out of town, towards the fields. Like where that thing fell out of the sky. That couldn't be a coincidence. As we got closer to the fields I knew I was right. Eventually, Shen stopped the truck right next to a crater and everyone got out. Well, everyone except me. Kai had to drag me out, grabbing my forearm in the same spot where it was already bruising. Drag is a relative term, though, considering I actually didn't move for a while, until I realized he wasn't going to stop trying. After that I slid out willingly, not wanting anymore bruises.
Inside the crater was a spaceship. Like an actual alien spaceship. I almost shit my pants, to be completely honest. These guys were aliens. "You people are aliens!" I shouted, scrambling to get back to my truck. Weird guy #3 was behind me, though, and stopped me from going anywhere.
Shen shook his head and took a few steps closer to me, typing at some device on his arm. "We aren't aliens, Lukas. Although, we do know some. We're human, just like you." He said warmly. It was kind of disconcerting, how calm he sounded. I mean, they looked human. And Kai looked like an especially attractive human, despite how irritating he was. Even so, it was still difficult to believe. What kind of humans had alien spaceships?
The Weird girl-- I heard Shen call her Pres-- stepped forward and I stared down at her. She was at least a foot shorter than me, but looked a lot scarier. Although, that wasn't terribly difficult, considering I wasn't scary whatsoever. "Listen, Luke-- is it okay if I call you Luke? Okay great-- so anyway, I'm not going to tell you everything, but basically you're apart of this prophecy thing and you need to come to space with us." She explained, gesturing wildly.
