The ride back home was long and silent. Well of course it would be. Nakida had up and gone with no explanation. Depressing anticlimax and well I was alone again as usual. Only this time I actually felt empty.
I screwed up but last minute I really thought that I had redeemed myself but I guess good things don't come easy or they don't come at all.
I let myself in the flat and took of my shirt.
I didn't know what to do with the rest of my afternoon so I went unto Google and began to search for jobs. I was in need of a job seeing as I was recently fired and rent would be due soon.
I couldn't concentrate on anything and my mind kept going back to Nakida and how she walked out of my car. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. What I had done wrong. Or said. I didn't know.
Sighing, I flopped on my bed. My life was actually a mess. I had nothing to do w my time and the cigarettes in my drawer were a real temptation. I had been trying to get clean for the past months to no avail but meeting Nakida had completely threw my mind of them.

I picked up the packet and took one out. Balancing it between my lips, I began to look for my lighter.
I ruffled  through my drawer then abruptly stopped. What was I doing. How could I sit here smoking when the one thing that makes me feel alive is slowly slipping away from my fingers. Opportunity only comes once and I had to grab it.
I picked up my phone and called Nakida, my confidence overspilling. The line rang five times and when I was about to cut the phone, she picked up. But it wasn't her. It was a male voice. The same male voice that told me where her house was.
His deep voice boomed through the phone. "Hello. Whose this and why are you calling my wife?"
Wife? What the Fuck. Nakida was married. She didn't tell me she was married. What have I gotten myself into now
"Hi... erm.. Sir... I'm Nakida's friend .... erm ... the one who dropped her home.. Clarence" I stuttered

"Clarence?" He replied

"Yes Sir. Clarence Xlang. Sorry for calling at this time"

"Clarence?! Chouboy? It's me Armante. I didn't know you knew Nakida. Wow. It's a small world"

Chouboy. I hadn't been called that since high school and this deep voice brought back all the memories.
Shit.
Armante. The Armante. Armante was Nakida's husband
