I was soaring above the town I lived in. Looking down on all the people looking up at me. Their faces filled with confusion. Which made sense, considering, well, you know. We flew fast through the sky, eventually finding an open field of nothing but grass and hills for miles. There was a small hill, but big enough for us to lay on, where we landed. My dragon curled up surrounding my small body compared to it. It's warmth covering my body giving me a sense of security and comfort. The sun was slowly setting just over the horizon.
The horizon. A place nobody would ever get to. A place we couldn't reach. I place so beautiful, so secure, so perfect, that you couldn't reach it. Because if you could. You would finally be happy, completely happy. You could never be sad at the horizon. That's why humans can't go there. But maybe, maybe our souls could. Maybe when we die, that's where they go. But we don't know it because we're dead.
And as I starred at the horizon, a though struck my brain, just as the beams of light from the sun, going over the horizon, struck my eyes causing me to squint. And it seemed as if the thought came through the beams of sun. The thought struck my eyes and then filled my brain. And all I knew were the words, "watch out little girl, you have the last dragon, and I want it, I will get it, so watch your back."
I was struck back into reality by my dragon nudging my face with its own. I realized that I was breathing extremely heavy and sweat covered my face.
I looked down at my body realizing I still had my transformation outfit on. I stood up leaving the comfort of my dragon and held my arms out. My clothes began to disappear, and in their place, nothing but a simple pair of black sweatpants and a white sweatshirt covered my body. I mean, what can I say, tags what I always sleep in. I laid back down into the comfort of my dragon. He re-positioned himself so that he surrounded me once again. Keeping me warm as he did before. And I felt safe again.
And then, I just knew. I don't really know how or why. I just knew. Orion.
"That is your name, Orion." I told my dragon petting him on the side of his neck, running my fingers through his short fur.
"And I love you Orion." I said, and drifted off to sleep cuddled into my dragon. Feeling safe, secure, and perfect.
