"I'm just doing my job, Taehyung. You should too."
"But I am doing my job-"
"Look, I don't want to upset you, but please can we just go to the conference?" Jungkook turned his back and started to briskly walk away. "I don't want to argue yet again."
For once, Taehyung was actually lost for words.
*
The meeting seemed to drag on all day. Taehyung was surprised at how little he cared. Usually, new music and comebacks were the most exciting things in the world. But now, the melodies just sounded hollow and lifeless. The concept seemed overused and muddy. And, interestingly enough, Taehyung found the window to be the most intriguing part of the conversation.
"Again?"
Taehyung watched as a flock of birds scattered the sky in the distance. There must've been at least 100 of them...
"Taehyung?"
Up and up they soared. Where were they headed?
"Listen!"
The shout shook him out of his stupor, and he lowered his forearm onto the table. 14 people were staring back at him, at least half of them wore irritable expressions.
"Yeah?" Taehyung asked.
"This has been the fifth time you haven't been listening!" Mr. Bang exclaimed.
"I.. I'm sorry," he apologized and bowed slightly. "I'm just... I just have something on my mind, and I can't focus."
Jungkook, who was standing next to the door and seemed to have been glued in place, stole a glance towards the idol. For a moment, the bodyguard seemed sorry for him. But just for a moment.
"Well... no use to continue this meeting if you're not enthusiastic about my music," Min Yoongi sighed, stood, grabbed his folders and disc, bowed to Mr. Bang, and exited, slamming the door behind himself.
The room was silent before an old woman, who was wearing a maroon dress, spoke.
"You know, Mr. Bang, in other companies, it doesn't matter what the idols think. They do not run the show, sir."
"Yes, I'm very well aware of that," he answered and gazed at Taehyung.
There was another moment of silence before it was broken again.
"Taehyung, although we cleared up your interview mess with the media," he started and stood up. Mr. Bang began to pace around the table, taking deep sighs.
"I would like you to make an appearance on that show you missed and formally apologize."
Taehyung didn't feel like resisting.
