He'd seen. It registered but it didn't really matter. Not now. What mattered was Harry. And this stupid man didn't seem to care about that. He was still staring at him, open mouthed. If Sirius was the man he used to be, he would've found it hilarious to stick his finger in there. He instead looked back at the mans shocked eyes, trying to hide the disgust showing in them.
"It was a rock." Sirius gruffly got out, gesturing to the drawing on the wall.
Fudge seemed shocked and confused for a moment, seemingly have forgotten about it. He looked back at the man on the floor. Looked into his eyes. He knew he shouldn't care. He knew that. But there was something in his eyes. Something so painful it was almost hard to look at.
'This was the man who didn't get a trail..' thought fudge suddenly. Realisation dawning on him. What if.. what if that pain that was pouring out so painfully from his eyes was real? What if he was under the imperious curse when he told of the Potters hiding place? But no. He couldn't dredge all that up now, Dumbledore would have a fit.

Sirius was still looking at the man. Trying to figure out what he was still doing here. What those looks in his eyes were. And then he decided he really didn't care. Had he already forgotten about Harry? The person he was called here for?
Sirius closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He stood. He guard moved suddenly too. Ready to pounce. Fudge waved him down immediately and let his eyes fall back on Sirius, who was now standing opposite him. He knew how to play this.
"Harry is the wizarding worlds hero right? What if I'm right and something is wrong with him? What will people say knowing you've placed him there and knowingly let something bad happen to him? Something you could've stopped? Isn't it worth at least checking for yourself?" Sirius' voice came out strong, convincing. Almost like when he was back at school trying to convince Minnie he didn't pull a very-obviously-his prank.
He could see the look of panic in Fudges eyes and knew he hit the right place. Fudge wouldn't want people hating him, image was everything to the man. Fudge coughed and looked away for a moment, considering. Sirius remained silent, watching. Letting the man come to his own verdict. Everything in him begging for Fudge to agree.

"Okay fine. I'll check on Harry myself." Fudge muttered straightening up. Sirius' hard stance crumbled as he actually sobbed in relief. "Oh thank god, thank you. Thank you." He cried, head in his hands. He heard fudge walk to his cell door. He heard it close. The sound didn't even bother him right now like it usually did. He was actually.. happy? Oh god he was happy. For the first time in a long time. Still worried beyond belief but now his pup was going to get help. Harry was going to be okay.

He looked up from his hands when he sensed Fudge hadn't moved. He was still stood near his cell. Staring at him as though trying to see through him, a little line between his eyebrows as though deep in thought. It confused Sirius, who raised his head and cocked it slightly to the side. They looked at each other for another moment longer before Fudge nodded to himself and briskly walked away, intent on his doings.
