Al's P.O.V during the kidnapping scene (Divergent)

Visiting Day

It's visiting day, I don't want to see all the parents. My Mother and Father encouraged me to join dauntless, but I don't think they will turn up?

I stay in the dormitory, no one comes looking for me.

I'm sitting on my bed when I look up and I see Tris standing in front of me, her big blue eyes demanding attention.

"hey" I say but I want to say more, like  how her smile makes me melt inside, about how if Four was here we would probably go out.

I know, it's selfish but I hate Four, I hate the way that makes her happy. I wish she would look at me like she looks at Four.

"Can I sit down?" Tris asks.

"Sure."

"People were looking for you, your parents I think?" Tris says

"I can't make it Tris, I'm weak."

"no you're not, I know you're scared but you have to fight through it!"

More simulations, more fears.

One night I decide to get more tattoos. Tris, Christina, Will and me all walk to the tattoo place.

As we look around for ideas I try and find a spider, that was my fear today. I walk past a picture of a spider in flames, like the dauntless sign, I love it.

As I'm getting it tattooed onto my arm, trying not to cry. I think this is what I want my life to be and I must have it....

Later when I have finished my tattoo we're walking to the cafeteria, past the chasm and we see four. He's laughing so hard he has to hold onto the railing for support.

"uh oh instructor alert." I say to break the silence.

"Well at least it's not Eric, he would probably take us to play chicken or something." Will says

He starts walking over to us unlike his usual crisp pace it's replaced with a new kind of walk, he's falling all over the place and he looks a mess.

Four completely ignores us and walks over to Tris, this is bad, very bad.

They talk for a while then he whispers something in her ear. I can't take it anymore, I walk up to them and I tap Four on the shoulder.

I whisper in his ear saying "leave her alone" I hope Tris doesn't hear?

Four pulls away from her they say goodbye. "Just thought I would save you?"

I have a great idea, I lift her up over my shoulder and she squeals "ahhhhh!"

Will sees what I do and he does the same with Christina, finally Tris stops squirming and enjoys the ride.
