A Vibrant Rose and a Broken Heart | 5

Yeri and Tzuyu walk into their classroom and look up at the whiteboard. They both see a seating chart and try to find what seat they are in. Tzuyu points at her picture and exclaims, "There's my seat! Gotta go!" Tzuyu walks to her seat while Yeri rushes to find hers as more people come into the room, including Jaehyun and Rose. Yeri stares at them holding each other's hands and cringes in disgust. She turns her eyes away from them and looks back at the whiteboard. She sees her picture and finds a picture with no one in it.

"Huh" thought Yeri.

Yeri felt relieved until she saw the name above the picture. It read, "Roseanne Park".

Yeri thinks to herself, "It can't be her! I mean, what if there's another girl named Rose here? Yeah! That might be it!"

Yeri walks to her seat and waits till the bell rings for class to start. She looks at Jaehyun kissing Rose on her cheek and clenches her teeth to restrain herself from coming into their business. Yeri sees Jaehyun walk to take his seat and sees Rose coming in her direction. Yeri pleads in her mind, "No! Don't let her sit by me! Don't let her sit by me! No! No! No-"

Just as Yeri pleads her last no, Rose takes the seat next to her while Yeri tries to grin the entire time. Rose turns to Yeri and smiles at her. "Wow! We get to meet once again!" exclaimed Rose. Yeri slowly turns her head to Rose and replies, "Yeah! What a coincidence!" As Rose turns her head to face the whiteboard, Yeri slaps her head in shame with her hand.

Yeri sees the teacher walk in and introduce herself. The teacher then exclaimed, "Hello class! My name is Ms. Shin and I will be your teacher for the rest of the school year for all you juniors!" Ms. Shin grabs some papers on her desk and some scissors. Then, she passes both of the papers and scissors around to each of her students. As Ms. Shin finishes, she begins to smile at everyone and sighs, "To start off the year I would like you all to create something for your partner and cut it out to give it to them! How nice would that be?"

Yeri looks down and back at Rose.

"Great," thought Yeri.

Yeri grabs the scissors slowly and starts cutting a broken heart while Rose cuts a rose. "TIME'S UP!" yelled Ms. Shin. Every student stopped cutting and looks at Ms. Shin. Ms. Shin smiles again and exclaims, "Now it is time to give your created object to your partner!" Rose immediately shoves her crafted rose to Yeri's desk while Yeri slowly gives her crafted broken heart to Rose.

 Yeri looks at the paper rose and asks, "Why did you make me a rose?" Rose looks up at Yeri and smiles, "Well I think since we were getting to know each other, I figured that I could give you something that reminded you of me! A lovely beautiful rose! But what I need to ask you is, why would you make me a broken heart?" Yeri looks down at the floor and sighs, "Just to remind you of me! A sad, broken heart." Rose looks up at Yeri while holding her rose, which used to be on Yeri's desk, and smiles curiously, "What? Oh, I wasn't listening. Sorry! Can you repeat what you said?" Yeri frowns and forces herself to smile and replies, "Oh! It's nothing. Nothing at all..." Rose smiles at Yeri and responds, "Cool! Now um, do you have some colored pencils, I really want to color my rose, err I mean YOUR rose to make it more beautiful!" Yeri shrugs and unzips her backpack to grab a pack of colored pencils. Rose takes the pack from Yeri's hand and smiles, "Thanks!"

And so on until class ended for lunch, Yeri was miserable as her best friend/crush now had a girlfriend and now his girlfriend couldn't bother to listen to her feelings and cares more about a vibrant rose than a broken heart.
