Chapter 7: You watch WAY too much ID Channel

When we get there, I look over at Demi and she has a confused look on her face. I get out of the car and go open the door for her. I pop the trunk and get the backpack out. I walk back to Demi an grab her hand, interlacing our fingers again as we walk down a concrete trail. As we walk, Demi turns to me.

"Is this where you drag me into the woods to kill me?" She asks smirking.

"You watch WAY too much ID Channel... and no, I want to show you something."

The concrete disappears and turns into a dirt trail. We walk a little bit further into the woods, where there is a pile of big rocks. I take the backpack off and pull out a blanket to put over the rocks so we can sit on them. Then, I pull out sandwiches and two bottles of water. We crawl onto the rocks and sit down.

"It isn't really anything special. Just a peanut butter and jelly." I say handing a sandwich to her.

"It's fine! I LOVE peanut butter!" She says with a huge smile on her face.

We eat in a comfortable silence. When we get done I put our trash in the backpack.

"So, what did you want to show me?" She asks.

"Oh yeah!" I say, getting off the rock. I walk behind Demi where there is a hole in the rock, and pull out a medium sized, metal box. I bring it around and sit next to Demi with the box in my lap.

"What the fuck is that and how did you know it was here?" She asks.

"It's a Geo Cashe. When I was in middle school I came with a group of friends. There is another one here. We passed it walking up." I say opening the box, exposing little trinkets and goofy stuff inside.

"Oh, so... what is all this stuff?" She asks, pulling out a goofy pair of glasses.

"Well, when you find this one you take an item and leave another in its place. Not all of them are like this. Some you just write your name on and put back."

"That is really cool. I'm going to pick these glasses. What are you picking? And what are we leaving behind?"

I reach in the backpack pulling out beaded necklaces and a new pack of glow sticks. Putting them in the box to answer her question. I grab a folded up piece of paper that I had put in there earlier today.

"Dems, this has your name on it..." I say, trying to act confused. She looks at it and knits her eyebrows together. "Do you want me to read it?" She nods her head yes. I open it, already knowing what it says, and read it to her.

"It says

'Dear Demi,

Fall break is coming up very soon, two weeks from now to be exact. I was wondering if you would like to accompany me on a week long vacation. Just the two of us. No one else.'

I wonder who wrote this... And how they knew you would be here." I say with a big smirk on my face.

Demi jumps on me as soon as I finish speaking, causing me to fall back on the rocks. Luckily I was already sitting.

"Yes! Of course I will go with you!!" She says, laughing and hugging me.

"Great! I already talked to your mom and she said you could go. I already have everything booked and set up. All we have to do is pack."

She smiles brightly and kisses me. She pulls back way too soon in my opinion.

"Thank you, Le."

"For what?" I ask.

"Everything... You were the first person who talked to me when I moved here. You showed me that I AM beautiful. You actually care about me. You're the first person ever, who isn't family, that has actually taken the time to get to know me. I never thought you would notice me... I would see you around school and just notice how you treat people. I wanted some one to care about me like that."

"I noticed you on the first day if school, actually. I've always thought you're beautiful... Honestly, I was scared to talk to you. I didn't want you to think I was talking to you just because you were new... But then I had a pretty good excuse to talk to you. And I'm glad I did." I say the last part gently laughing.

"Me too." She says quietly, moving her head closer to mine. Soon, our lips were pressed together and they didn't part for a long time.
