When I wake up this time, I can feel a soft hand in mine. I know who it is before I even open my eyes. I squeeze her hand as tears fall from my closed eyes... It was just a dream... I still have her.
I open my eyes and look at her. She's been crying. Her eyes are red and puffy. It looks like she hasn't slept in several days.
"Le! You're awake! I thought I lost you!" She says with tears streaming down her face.
"Dems... What happened to me? How long have I been out of it?" I ask slowly.
"It's been three days... Um... There was a man that was in the woods... He was drunk and he picked up a piece of plywood and ran towards us... He hit you with it and it knocked you out. Zach tackled him while Savanah called the cops... He's in jail now. No one else got hurt... I thought you would never wake up... I was so worried about you..."
"Dems, I'm okay. I just have a headache. I'm just glad that you're okay... And I meant everything I said the other night... I really hope you say yes..."
She holds up her left hand and the ring is on her finger. She has a huge smile on her face.
"I already did."
