A NEW BEGINNING

"So, I'm going to walk home with him after school so we can try and get started on our project." Jae stated as he took a seat at the lunch table that Sungjin and him always eat at. A bright smile formed on his lips just thinking about the moment to come. He was ecstatic about hanging with the younger. Not that it was a hang out.
"I hope you don't get too distracted from your work." Sungjin said before taking a bite out of his sandwich. Jae sucked his teeth and rolled his eyes at the younger's remark, already knowing that he was going to nag him.
"Don't pray on my downfall. I'm not going to get distracted. Like I said earlier, Wonpil is the least of my worries."
"Yeah but sleeping isn't. Do you even know what the project is about? I'm sure you fell asleep in Mr.Han's class." Sungjin mentioned. Jae let out a nervous laugh and noticed Sungjin's stern expression that he currently held on his face had not changed. Jae let out a deep sigh and carded a stray piece of hair away from his face.
"Look, I tried to stay awake but my eyes weren't working with me. Plus, Wonpil explained it. We have to write a song using the tips and elements he gave us."
"You mean the tips and elements you missed out on?" Sungjin questioned. Jae jokingly slapped him across his arm and sighed in annoyance.
"Wonpil told me he'd run through it with me later so it should be fine." Jae insisted.
"It sounds like Wonpil will be doing most of the work. Jae, you cant let this keep happening. Are you sure enough that you're capable of writing a song? That's a lot of work."
"First of all, he isn't doing all the work. He's just running through the ground rules, ok? And this is a two person job and I am more than capable of writing a song." Jae huffed, turning his gaze to anywhere and anything but Sungjin. "You seem like you don't believe in me."
"I'll always support and believe in you 100% and you know that. I just don't like how you're falling back in your studies. You're losing credits y'know." Sungjin reminded him. Jae nodded and felt a hand on his shoulder and looked over to see Sungjin giving him a big smile.
"You can do this, ok?" Jae nodded and gave the boy a small smile in response.
"Thanks Sungjin."
"No need to thank me. I'll see you later Jae." Jae nodded and waved the boy off, watching him head off and exit the cafe. He let out a deep sigh and got up as well, carrying his lunch tray and dumping out the discarded trash out and dusting his hands.
