"I was on my way to your house for Thanksgiving since you said the whole family was going to be there. It would've nice to see them all together again." Kara painted a picture in her mind as Cari talked about her side of the story. The rain must've been pouring hard when Cari drove 5 hours to Kara's.
"They were all fighting, it wasn't the best we've seen them," Kara admitted. Cari giggled as if the family was still there.
"I took a turn for the worse. Literally. You know how bad I drive in the rain. I crashed into a tree and didn't wake up until a couple of hours."
"Which is probably when the whole CRIME went down." She made a face at Adam had his hand rubbing his arm in embarrassment. Cari picked up the situation immediately.
"Wait a second... is this the guy who killed our family?!" Before anyone could answer, she made a run at Adam and began throwing hits. Theo took caution, so he could hold out his arms and grab Cari protecting anyone from harm. All the while, Adam blocked himself with his forearms, trying not to hit Cari in the process. Previous him would have attacked right back, girl or not. Kara could see that he changed.
"Cari, don't worry. He's here to get our family back."
"Yeah, ok, anyway. Someone pulled me from the car before it exploded and took me to the hospital. I still don't know who they are because too dark, but they will forever be my savior. Later, I heard on the news about what happened. I didn't see your body when I came to see the crime, so I went to look for you. It took a while and a lot of questions, but now that I'm here, I'm never leaving." The twins exchanged a long hug. As they walked around the house like a tour. Once Cari left, Adam began to speak.
"Never is a long time. Do we even have a room for her?"
"I'm sure Kara will let Cari sleep with her," Theo answered.
It took a long time for Kara to show Cari all the differences and similarities the childhood house had picked up over time. Cari found the little things like their height marks on the wall and dried gum under the counter that Kara had missed. It must've been the chaos that didn't give her time to fully analyze the house. Cari made her way to the bathroom, sending Kara off on her lonesome to the living room. She sat down and took a deep breath, finding her hands warm in her lap. Adam strolled in, knowing her presences was in the room.
"So, how has your time with your sister been?" He asked creating a spot close to Kara on the couch. She moved a little away from him in slight discomfort.
"Did Theo tell you to ask me that?"
"No, you might not know this, but I actually care about you." Little did Kara know how his feeling of her rooted.
"You have quite a funny way of showing it." She puffed up her nose and turned away like a rich queen smelling something unwanted.
"Fine, if you want me to go, I'll leave you be." As he made his way up, Kara pulled his wrist, so he could sit back down. However, instead of him falling back into his seat, he was pulled to face her and fell on top of her. She tried to make her breath steadily when she looked at his hands right next to her head.
"I wanted you to stay." Kara gushed. The difference between Theo and Adam was; Adam knew how to make a move. He leaned in to kiss her. Shockingly, to Kara, she didn't stop him. As they acknowledge their presence, Cari strolled in, shocked, to see them like this.
"Get off of her, you maniac!" Cari screamed. In her eyes, Adam was attacking Kara in a way that she couldn't call for help. Cari pryed him off with her claw-like nails and smacked him repetitively. Kara immediately sprung up to save him but stopped herself when she saw Theo racing through the hallway. She realized how bad a situation she put herself in. Now, she had butterflies for two people.
Theo was able to pry her off Adam like a sticky band-aid. "I wasn't attacking her! I was..." He chased his eyes to mine with innocent and captivation. Kara didn't look pleased with what she that he might say, but when he finally finished she was shocked as to his answer was. "Helping her stretch out... her... arm."
"Yeah. Cari-uh- accidentally hit it when she was attacking Adam the-uh- the first time." Kara added. They both waited for a response from Cari and Theo hoping it would be approved. Cari dropped her arms and quickly apologized to Adam and also Kara for the mishap, but Theo had a slight feeling in his gut.
Finally, after everything settled down, Cari sat in her room which had been Kara's too and dissected the place. Everyone was in a different room, all made to be separated, but Kara found herself walking to her room to make conversation with Cari.
"So, did you know?" Cari perked up from the small bookshelf. Kara took in all the air she could before going on. "Did you know you were a witch? I should've known. I'm the older twin anyway." Cari plodded over to Kara and put her weight from her hand onto Kara's shoulder. The energy traveled small through her veins building up as it got to the balls of her feet. If she closed her eyes, she could imagine energy as a gold substance. She peered up at Cari's half smile with a full heart.
"So, you did know? Did mom know? Did she know you knew?"
"I figured out after that time when you got really mad at my ex-boyfriend and the next day he wound up almost dying. It's why I gave you that supernatural book. And I know that Adam and Theo aren't mundane humans either. Sorry, you had to find out at the worst time ever." She let her hand fall from Kara's forearm back to her side. Kara didn't care about how she found out, but more of how she can build her power.
"I came in here to tell you that Adam has redeemed himself because he is going to bring back our family." Kara confronted. Cari flicked up an eyebrow in disbelief.
"And how exactly is he going to do that?"
"He can siphon a powerful witch and bring them back with the magic energy he obtains and all that business. I'll let you sit on it. You can go back to getting comfortable with the place. You'll be here a while."
Kara lurched out the door, but not before she caught one more glance at Cari before closing the door. Her stare met with Theo only inches away from her face. I can never be alone in this house, huh? He gave a grin as he held up a book covered in dust and history. Kara wanted to ask about it, however, she didn't exactly like the grin he presented.
"I found a book full of old rituals, spells, and potions. Even if you don't have enough time to become a very magic witch, you can still begin spells for your own benefits." Theo brushed Kara's hair behind an ear as a welcoming gesture.
"Thank you, Theo that's really thoughtful of you." She took up the book and brushed off the cover. Then she gazed up at him once more. "Would you like to help me?" It was, of course, a yes.
