Bakugou paced in the doorway of his dorm, waiting for a certain redhead to step inside. He was (not that he’d admit it) nervous and he shoved his hands into his pockets to keep from blowing anything up. He knew Kirishima would be arrive soon after texting Bakugou that he’d be coming over and Bakugou wasn’t sure if Kirishima had remembered the date. He looked down at his phone screen as it vibrated sudden and smiled slightly.

Well hurry up
Bakugou put the phone back in his pocket and let out a shaky breath, turning to look at the pile of stuff in his room anxiously. He’d decided to take Kirishima out on a hiking trip with him and even got him spare supplies from the things he didn’t use, like his second sleeping bag and a pair of hiking boots (his only good ones). Bakugou had gotten another bag from his closet, filling them both with unperishable food items, extra clothes, water, first-aid kits, a tent, and anything else they might need.
Bakugou went over to them now, pulling them open and checking through them for the third time in the past 15 minutes. He closed them again and stood up, clenching and unclenching his fists and trying to slow down his heartbeat. Bakugou wanted to give Kirishima the best gift. He was grateful for Kirishima and the fact that he’d accepted Bakugou for being him, despite ‘him’ being an asshole. He was someone who wasn’t supposed to be liked, who was supposed to be hated for his cockiness. He knew it perfectly well (he hated being alone).
But Kirishima didn’t hate him. Far from it. He actually liked Bakugou, patiently helping him every time he got frustrated or angry and flew into a rage, and when he’d been at his incredible low after the kidnapping, when he’d been working out until his palms were blistered and bleeding, when he’d been waking up in the middle of the night after a nightmare and a suffocating sensation took over him, Kirishima had carefully taken him into his arms and kept him there until he calmed down, staying with him until he was sure Bakugou could be left alone.
Bakugou loved Kirishima. It was as simple as that. The redhead had been annoying at first, with his random exclamations of ‘That’s so cool!’ and ‘That’s so manly!’, but he’d grown on Bakugou, choosing him over everyone else he could have. First as a partner, then as a best friend, and then as a boyfriend. He was ridiculous and an idiot for liking Bakugou, but he appreciated it and he wanted to thank Kirishima for spending a year without leaving him.
