“Ughhh!” I groaned as I woke up to the sound of a car horn honking. What the hell? I grabbed my phone to check the time, seeing it was 7am. “Oh shit I'm late!” I yelled yanking the covers off of me.

I quickly brushed my teeth, put on a bra and boots, then I grabbed my phone and book bag on the way out.

“Took you long enough!” Ashton yelled honking the car one last time.

“I'm sorry Ash I just woke up, I didn't even hear my alarm go off. I'm still wearing my pajamas.” I explained getting into Ashton's car.

Ashton took a double take at me then burst into laughter while driving to school, almost knocking out a mailbox from laughing so hard.

“Damn Ash! Can you drive straight please?” my hand grasping on the 'oh shit handle' of the car.

“It's hard to when you're dressed like that.” he laughed.

I looked down noticing my lace black bra strapped on over my light blue sweatshirt. Almost shrieking I unstrap it then put it on the right way under the sweatshirt in one quick motion, blushing deep red.

“I told you I just woke up.” I mumbled still red.

“Obviously, boulder holder.” Ashton chuckled parking in the student parking lot of the school.

Ashton teased me about the bra incident all morning. He finally stopped when it was lunch. It was raining today so we couldn’t sit in our normal sitting spot. I followed him to a round table in the back of the cafeteria away from the crowd. Luke soon joined us. Ugh, kill me please. So far today has been shit.

“Annnnnnn?” Ashton whined looking at me with puppy dog’s eyes.

“What do you wannnnnt?” I whined copying him.

“Can you please get me some ketchup please?” he fluttered his eyes.

“Fine!” I groaned getting up from my seat walking away as Ashton called love you.

As I walked up to the counter where the sauces were, I caught a glimpse of something purple in the corner of my eye. When I looked to my left I saw a tall slim boy with lavender hair and two piercings, one in his ear and the other in his eyebrow. He was looking for a place to sit down. When his eyes came towards me he smiled and waved.

I’m not going to just stand there when a hot guy waves at me. I waved back with a small smile. He walked towards me and I looked to the floor not knowing what to do.

When a sudden courage came through me I tried to say hey, but he walked straight passed me sitting down across from a cheeky olive brunette.

My cheeks flushed. I’ve never felt so embarrassed. Of course he wasn’t looking at me; hardly anyone looks at me.

When I looked back at the lavender boy, him and his friend were leaning over the table whispering to each other, then their eyes darted to me.

I quickly turned around grabbing as many ketchup packets as I could, then fast walked back to Ashton and Luke.

“What took you so long?” Ashton asked taking a packet.

“Um…I thought someone was waving at me, but they were actually waving at the person behind me.” I muttered covering my hands with my sleeves. A habit I do when I feel uncomfortable.

“Oh that sucks! I’ve had something like that happen to me before back in Detroit.” Luke explained taking a bite from his cookie. Ashton just shook his head and rubbed my back to comfort me.

I know I shouldn’t dwell over this, but I can’t help it. I over think sometimes. I feel so embarrassed and awkward. Why do I have to be such an idiot and get myself into awkward situations?

“Hey, don’t sweat it.” Ashton nudged me with his shoulder giving me a warm smile. I returned one pushing the insecure thoughts away.

“Can you please get down from there Andrea?” Luke hollered cupping his hands around his mouth to project his voice.

“In a sec! The view up here is amazing!” I yelled back down to him.  He rolled his eyes and sat at the base of the tree I was in.

Wow this is so beautiful! The huge tree in corner of the park gave a perfect view of the city lights, resembling the stars in the sky.  Simple things like this had me fall in love with Brooklyn.

I heard grunting and shuffling coming from below. I looked down giggling at the sight of Ashton trying climb the branches to where I am.

“Need some help?” I asked trying to hide my laugh.

“I’m a man! I got this!” he assured me, but slipped almost falling from the tree. He swore under his breath as he regained his balance.

“Took you long enough.” I told him when he finally reached me.

“Shut up!” Ashton rolled his eyes, then looking out into the city. “Wow, this is so pretty!”

“I told you!” I rested my head on his shoulder. He nodded not looking away from the lights.

Being up here looking at the city with my best friend makes everything seem okay. Taking a break from the real world. Not worrying or caring about anything. Just gazing at our lights enjoying each other’s company.

“Are you guys ready to go yet? I’m hungry!” Luke shouted from below.

“Fine you fat ass!” I called down.

“We all know that the real fat ass is you.” Ash joked climbing down.

“Fuck you.” I said climbing down with him.

“Finally, lets go!” Luke walked away towards whatever restaurant he wanted to go to leaving Ashton and I trailing behind.
