The year is 2301, maybe. The planet is basically a pile of rubble. The population is on the brink of extinction and, somehow, I can still find a Philly cheese steak.
"Are you serious?" My twin sister, Carmen, asked as I broke into the deli. She had shoulder length black hair, brilliant green eyes, a small nose, and, at the moment, a disapproving frown. She had on a raggedy black tank top and black denim jeans and black Chuck Taylor's with Nike socks.
"Yes, I am. And, who knows, we might find a gun in here." I said as I climbed in the broken window. I had on black jeans and black Vans. I lost my shirt to a raging Bull-Cat last week.
My older brother, Josh, sighed. He's two years older than us. He had a black t shirt and dark blue denim shorts, and high top Nike's. We wear black so that we can sleep peacefully at night. The aliens have some kind of sensor to find colors and black means dead, we found that out by accident.
I opened up a mini fridge in the back of the store and found someone’s long forgotten lunch. I took it and went to find a microwave. Josh was taking any weapons he could find. He found a Model 1887 and a P99. He packed what magazines he found and gave Carmen a large frying pan.
“No fair! I want to fight aliens too!” she whined as she swung it at him.
Dodging it, he smiled and said, “You will…from behind us.” Since she was a girl, Josh always shielded her behind our ‘brother barricade’. He handed me the P99 and a few mags. I slipped it into the side of my belt and ate my sandwich as we left the deli and continued on our journey.
We didn't encounter anything for about an hour and then Josh suddenly whispered,
"Get down!"
The 3 of us instantly found cover. I was on my stomach next to an old Ferrari, peeking around the deflated tire to try to see any danger, Josh had jumped into a doorway of a shop, and Carmen was hiding behind some building rubble.
We peeked from our hiding spots and saw an alien spaceship, about as big as two cruise liners flying side by side. This isn't the first one i've seen but it's the first I've seen without defensive armor.
"Must be on it's way to the factory..." Josh said.
They made their ships in one place and fitted them for battle in another. This one was on it's way.
"I heard rumors that these ships also carry human guns to military bases."
'To arm more aliens, I assume.'
"Phantom's Eye." I whispered.
The three of us, we're not your normal kids. We were born with special abilities.
I can go through shadows like doors and end up somewhere else, I can turn invisible...sorta, and my right eye can target stuff like a missile lock on, with distance and everything(its even got infrared). Josh can see a few minutes into the past or future (he never tried to develop his powers like I did). And Carmen can tell where shits has been. If she finds a wallet with no id she can 'read' it and find out someone's entire life story. She does it with books a lot, like speed reading without actually opening the book. We don't know how we got our abilities, but we've used them to stay alive until now. My eye created a red lock-on circle and to the left of it, little readings such as distance and wind resistance scrolled.
I targeted the bottom of the giant purple alien craft and shot one bullet into its core, the main engine which is on the outside. Not a very smart design for an advanced hostile race, I'd say.
The bullet hit and the result scared the living shit out of me. The ship immediately leaned really far left and scraped the top of my Ferrari. Things inside began to blow up and before any aliens could escape, the thing crashed into the base of an office building. The dust settled and we were looking at a successfully crashed ship.
But the destruction wasn't over. The office building K, L, & B. Lawyers groaned and Chris abandoned his stealthy approach and yelled,
"RUN!"
The building crashed down. It wasn't as spectacular as the ship crashing. The dust settled and we saw the ship was unharmed. We climbed, tripped, and slid over the rubble towards our bounty.
Josh and I slowly walked forward with our guns in front of us. We advanced inside and found the rumor was true, this unarmed alien spaceship had almost every gun ever humanly made. We quietly collected some stuff:
I got a new black shirt and a military grade black backpack. I stuffed it full of ammo for submachine guns, sniper rifles, and a handy pistol. I picked up a Barrett M82, an MP7A1, and a cleaner, less raggedy P99. Carmen ditched her pan for a machine gun (I have no idea where she found it and I wanted one too), and Josh found a couple shotguns which, according to him, were top of the line and usually unavailable to civilians.
As we exited, we were caught off guard by a,
"FREEZE!"
And about two dozen alien guns pointed at us. They were dressed in black jumpsuits with various ranks on them. Their guns were human but were covered in purple slime or something and something told me those didn't shoot normal bullets.
Standing at the front was one with an alien handgun pointed at my brother. In a guttural voice, obviously translated by his suit, The buff alien general said,
"It's nice to see you again, Joshua Beast."
