"Awakening a soul isn't easy."
"I know. But I want to try."
She nodded. "Very well. I shall heed your wish."
Magic spilled out around her, encircling the whole area and washing over his kneeling form. The magic circle she had drawn before made sense now, as her power did not cross the lines of chalk and salt.
He focused back on her, standing tall in her flowing robes that billowed around her with the sheer amount of magic encompassing them. It was surreal, actually. Her antlers grew proud from her head, small dainty pink flowers blooming among her pale hair. Both flowers and hair fluttered under her magic's influence. Her eyes bore into him, seeing past everything he was and into his very soul.
But that was the point of this, so he braced himself for whatever would come next.
Epigaea opened her mouth and sang.
It was haunting. It was lifting. It made his spine tingle. Could his spine tingle? It made his heart jump. It was like nothing of modern songs by humans or machine. The words lifted his soul and made him feel like a beacon of light. He was light, and free, and heavy all at the same time.
Oh, that must be his soul.
Epigaea levelled out, but didn't cease altogether. She sang a soothing melody now, calming his nerves and relaxing his shoulders. It swelled his soul and made him see her for the helper for the earth that she was.
She was helping him grow.
