As i walk out of the school i can feel the cold air hit my face. i inhale deeply and just stand there for a second. i space out into my mind, until i hear the door behind me start to open. im far enough from it so it wont hit me but i need to move so people can leave. i stand there for a moment and inhale some of the fresh air again, then i quickly thrown my skateboard down and skate off to my house.

As i get closer to my house i notice my moms car isn't in the garage, that usually means she was awake. i make a last minute decision to just go to the park instead. i can do my homework in my normal spot. i cross the street so its harder for my mom to notice me. As i pass by my house i can see her through the window in my living room. Shes sitting on the couch, drinking of course. i don't think she saw me past by. if i would have known she was up i would've went the long way.

As i get to the park, i can see people are just starting to show up. i pick up my skateboard and run over to my usual place before anyone can take it. its the one place you can see both the park and the skating area. Also its right under a tree so on really warm days you get some shade. i sit down and take out my chemistry homework. i think to myself, "once i get this one worksheet done, i can finish the drawing i started during art".

it takes about 15 minutes to get everything on the worksheet done, then i put it back into my chemistry folder and take out my sketchbook and headphones. i only put one in my ear so i can hear stuff that's happening around me. i don't want anyone sneaking up behind me and looking at my sketch book. i find the page i need and start to draw.

before i know it its almost 6 o'clock. nearly everyone has left the park and its just me and a few other kids. as im looking around the park i hear footsteps coming from behind me. i quickly close my sketch book and put it into my backpack. As i turn around i see a boy, probably around my age. he's wearing some black jeans, a white t-shirt with a black and white flannel over it and some converse.

he has dark brown hair and his light brown eyes are gorgeous. as im looking at him he looks at his feet and says, "i didn't mean to scare you, sorry".

i look at him and smile, " it's okay don't worry about it". for some reason he looks really familiar.. does he go here often?.

he asks, "can i sit?"

i smile and say sure.

we sit in an uncomfortable silence for awhile until i finally say, "by the way im kayla, do you come to this park often you seem really familiar?"

he laughs a bit, then says "not really this is my first time here, we do go to school together though. we have a lot of the same classes"

i look at him in shook, "we do? oh my god i'm so sorry.. i didn't even realize it" then i look down and start fidgeting with my hands.

he laughs again, this time a bit softer. "it's okay, you always look kinda zoned out. i knew you weren't going to realize it.

we talk and get to know each other a bit more, until i look at my phone and realize its almost 7 o'clock.

"shit" i say "i really gotta get home"

he frowns and finally says "alright, i'll see you at school tomorrow then?.

i smile at him as i'm getting up and say "yeah, most likely"

then i run over to the sidewalk, throw my skateboard down and hurry home.

i really hope my mom isn't still up or i'm gonna be in so much trouble...
