goodbye, you

Crunch of boots on crunchy gravel

Worn-out soles from the bruise of travel

Moonlight transcends, like liquid silver drenching out the night

The sidewalk doesn't end, like rivers of concrete bleeding out of sight

Watch me run

Your cold fingertips trace the inside of my arm, now my elbow

I can hear our hearts pound out a frenzied rhythm

Your hurried moves make up lost time, you know, I know

What went wrong between us, a flaw in our algorithm?

I thought we were always meant to be, you and I

But now I'm waiting for the perfect time to say goodbye

Just watch me run

Watch me laugh, watch me breathe

A thousand words better left unsaid

You smile, I see the flash of teeth

Watch me bleed and leave me for dead

I thought we were meant to be, you and I

But now I'm gonna just say goodbye

Shhhh, hear that?

Rustle of tree leaves, crunch of boots on crunchy gravel

Hear that?

It's the sound of hearts waiting to unravel

Watch me run

Do you see me?

It's my turn to leave

So just watch me run.
