"Sir, it's time to get up," a small voice sounded out.
Dimitri rolled over in his white, sheeted bed, groaning at the voice.
"Sir. You must get up."
Dimitri pulled his pillow above his head, ignoring the voice coming from the computer.
"Please Sir, it's time to get up. You told me yesterday that I was to wake you early."
Sighing, Dimitri threw the pillow to the side of his bed and said annoyed, "Explain to me why I installed you, SID?"
"It's my job to help you take care of yourself and to help you with anything you possibly need. Besides who else would take care of you?" answered the Simulated Intelligence Display.
Dimitri chuckled as he dragged himself out of bed. With a big stretch he glanced around his apartment and thought of what he had to do today.
"Alright, first things first, coffee."
The modern kitchen was waiting for him, clean and still, until he pressed a button. Pressing the small black button on the underside of the grey counter, a large, blue, clear type of screen popped up in front of him.
The hologram showed the results of how his apartment was fairing:
Air ventilation: Normal
Apartment Energy: 100%
SID Audio System: Male
Camera System: Functioning
Network: DiMiTrICaNmOrE, Connected, Secured
Backup System: Secured, Ready
Time and Date: 07:37, February 22nd, 2172
Dimitri nodded slightly towards the blue data and grabbed a mug from the corner of the kitchen. The mug had a strange shape to it with weird dips and crevices that shouldn't of belonged. Dimitri placed the mug under the nozzle coming out of the wall and pressed the small, black button.
A small buzzing noise sounded out as the black coffee poured out into the mug. Grabbing the mug, he took a long, deep sip from it, the black substance sliding down his throat, warming his stomach.
A small buzz of energy started to fill him, the mechanics in his left eye and the chip in his brain starting up again, awakening from the night's rest.
Dimitri blinked his left eye twice, the mechanics in his eye starting up, awakening the search engine that had been programmed in his eye. Dimitri thought about the Daily Morning News that he always looked at once he was partially awake and the search engine switched to the Daily Morning News. Everything had happened in less than five seconds, the chip in Dimitri's brain and the mechanics in his left eye calibrating and working together. The Daily Morning News was brought up in his left eye and scanned by the chip. The chip connected to Dimitri's brain gathered all the information from the search engine and downloaded it to his brain.
Blinking twice more the search engine disappeared from his sight and his regular vision had returned to him. Dimitri leaned against the cold, black counter top as he sorted through the information that had just been processed into his mind.
Nothing major had seemed to have happened overnight, faster monorails had been successfully working with little malfunctions on the magnetic levitation tracks, the latest fashion styles had changed a little; the heavy coats people wore over their brightly colored suits were black instead of brown, hairstyles were now short, not long.
