Cool Mornings
─────Outside my bedroom window, Towa City was at its rest. Night deserted the streets and transformed the road into a ribbon of moonlight. Soundlessly, the buildings in place stole each dying flame from their lamps, candles - lightbulbs, claiming the neighbouring walls. The yellow glow of light from each property diminished one by one. And it held me hostage to my illusion of peace, my eyes felt heavier with each passing moment.
When I had initially heard that the game was intended to find evidence behind my misconduct as 'participating', it had troubled me. I'd only found it more disconcerting that two naive kids were just as enthusiastic for said trials to proceed.
Guilt began to gnaw away at me as voices echoed from the other bedrooms. Did I really have to go through this every evening? Would I have to sleep through this every night? A little while later the sounds began to quiet until they were nothing at all. I tensed at the absence of noise. Had they all fallen straight to sleep at the exact same time? I took a breath in, subconscious of the whole situation - being in the same building as the people I had just met today, it didn't feel correct, even with walls separating their each and every move.
One, two, three.
I woke up, confused as I attempted to gather all my thoughts in one place, it was a mess, foggy - almost crowded. It took me a huge pause to figure where I was exactly though, with the little information I knew of the location - I had just figured it was going to be alright if I moved. I liked the feeling of being asleep, knowing that time could just fly by so fast - I didn't even want to imagine what it'd be like in a world where I actually had to worry about time, that's what I call the outside world.
Rubbing my eyes, I still felt a little groggy from sleeping, surely, it slowed me down, but there wasn't much to worry about was there?.. I yawned as I outstretched my arms, the yawn wasn't loud at all, more faint than my usual. I decided to ponder around the place my interest had leaned towards, it was familiar. As my blurry vision hit everywhere around the room I was in, it was confusing for a second. I didn't remember much about the place, could've been because of the sleepiness my brain still couldn't process correctly, but who am I to guess?
"Strange." I muttered out, unaware that anyone was in the room in the first place.
I couldn't muster up the energy to do anything but look around, but suddenly my eyes had landed on something, or someone. In the dimly lit room with the same fickle amber glow that drew from a candle. I couldn't see anything distinguishable from the figure. The silhouette of what looked to be a person was small, and it seemed to be moving. Its chest rising up and down. Curiosity couldn't help but gnaw its way into my mind. I wondered what it could be. It was seeming to shiver a bit, indicating it was cold - or something, I couldn't tell.
