A bumblebee decided lazily past us on the summer wind. The toasty California air warmed me to my soul. We lay together on a blanket, intending to postmate some food for a picnic, but we both got too caught up in each other to remember. Cole pointed to the ocean.
"There's a shark, somewhere in that puddle," he remarked.
"That's the Pacific Ocean, not a puddle," I laughed, closing my eyes and leaning into him.
"What's the difference between the ocean and a puddle? It's all relative," Cole sighed. "I think the puddle is just as beautiful as the ocean." He wrapped his arms around me. We sat there in a natural silence, enjoying each other's company. We had been dating for almost two years now, and such pauses had never been awkward.
"Y/N," he said suddenly. "Marry me."
"Only if I can put you in my phone as Cole Spouse," I replied, opening my eyes. The smirk that I loved about him spread across his face.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," Cole replied, kissing the top of my head. He pulled out a ring and went to put it on my finger. I stopped him, pulling out my phone and changing his contact to Cole Spouse.
"Now I'll marry you," I replied smugly as he slipped the ring on my finger.
