"How is she?" Merritt asked Jack worriedly, at first thinking I was asleep.

"I'm much better, thank you. Nothing's broken and Jack's stitched my head up so now I just have to wait for the bruises to heal," I explained.

Merritt put a fatherly hand on my head and I could see the tears in his eyes.
"I'm so pleased. I don't know what we would have done if something even worse had happened to you."

Merritt looked out for all of us as his children and we saw him as our protector and makeshift parent in the institute.

Danny walked next to the bed, gave me a once-over and smirked.
"You look terrible, Small Fry. But I'm glad you're okay. Merritt and I managed to get the men arrested and I spoke to the institute and they've agreed to not put you on a mission for three weeks."

I was glad for the time to rest but I felt bad for the boys and wanted in on the action.

"If there's anything I can do to help, please say. Also, I promise I didn't say anything to the men about us. I was hooked up to a polygraph so they could tell if was lying, otherwise I would have told them false information to keep them away for a bit-"

"They're in prison now anyway so it wouldn't have mattered if you did," Daniel interrupted.

"You're very brave Annalise. I don't think we would have been able to stay silent for as long as you did. Well done." I smiled at Merritt's praise.

The two men left and Jack didn't have a mission today, so he stayed in bed and cuddled with me until we fell asleep. I was so grateful to have him and the others in my life and it scared me to think how close I was to losing it all.

I felt a tear slip down my cheek and I didn't even realised I was crying. Jack was laying on his side facing away from me, so I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed him tight. He groaned and shifted a bit in his sleep.

"You okay, baby?" His voice was husky and I buried my face in his shoulder. He sat up and saw me crying so pulled me into his lap.

"Shh it's alright. You're safe, Annie. No ones ever gonna hurt you again, yeah?" He soothed into my hair. We stayed like that for a while until I had no tears left. Jack lied down on his back and beckoned for me to cuddle into him. He played with my hair until I fell asleep and enjoyed a rare dreamless sleep.

The next week went on with me recovering and the others doing missions. After a fortnight, I felt fully recovered and decided to take another pregnancy test. Jack waited outside the bathroom door while I did my business.

Slowly I opened the door and walked out to him.

                 Jack 's POV

Annie came out the bathroom and stood there staring at me, her face expressionless to increase the suspense. God she was beautiful. She was wearing one of my t-shirts which was way too big but short enough on her to look great. Her blonde hair was down and free and she was barefaced and fresh looking. I was a lucky man.

"We're going to have a baby!" She whispered, smiling softly at me.

I grabbed her waist and spun her round in my arms, feeling euphoria like never before. I was going to be a dad! I was having a baby! She was having a baby! We were having a baby!                  

"When are we gonna tell the others?" I asked when we'd finished rejoicing.

"Tomorrow, I'm terrible with secrets but for today I just want it to be us."

I kissed her passionately and felt blessed during my mission which went perfectly. Things were looking up for Jack Wilder.

                  Annalise's POV

I was so excited! Even though this baby wasn't planned, I intended to be the best mother I could. I knew Jack would be a great father too.
The next day, I didn't want to waste any time in telling the other two, so as soon as the four of us were called to the meeting room, I let it out.

"Erm, guys," I started nervously.

They all turned to face me, Jack giving me a smile.

"I'm pregnant."

They stood there shocked, staring down at my flat stomach then back up to my eyes, the first thing Merritt said was:

"Is it Jack's?"

"Of course it is!" Jack exclaimed.
"Wait, it is - isn't it?"

"Who else's would it be, silly?" we all laughed and he kissed me.
