Oh! Impenetrable mask so near
You steal to my face
You fill me with fear
But it does not show
With you in place:
The fiction surely knows.
What a monster you make me!
How dare you not claim love
When I feel it so to be
Fly from me, I tell you
This, I shall rise above
For there are things that I must do.
The one I love falls for you
Your steely gaze does not falter
As I know that I can do
Anything if my will is strong
All things not of nature must alter
And your stifled cries join the throng
Yet again you gain control
And hide my face from sight
My life, I find, is never droll
For I know your doom shall come
When at last you’re blasted with light
I will know I’m finally home
My love comes so close
His breath melts you so
He loves you more than most
And his love, not yours, is true
For when he asks, I’ll go
And leave you dying here
But, once melted, you reform
And break through my reverie
And bend my heart to conform
With your wants and desires
I refuse, I will not see your will for me
And I shall fight until my very soul perspires
Once, you protected me
Now you’ve o’er-stepped your bounds
I refuse to let you be
No more shall I ask this of you
I’ll listen no more to your witless sounds
I bid you farewell with “adieu.”
