"I'll be honest," Thatch starts as he leads you into the living room, closing the door behind you as you take your seat on the couch, your heart feeling heavy in your chest from anxiety. "When I had my first time, I was terrified."

The brunette chuckles at himself as he loosens his tie a little, taking a seat in the armchair opposite you, you can vaguely see the pale blush dusting his cheeks but that doesn't do much to calm your nerves.

Aw, he's so cute but why is this my life now?!

"Honestly, I needed a drink to relax me a bit." Thatch's face dropping at his own words before his gaze flickers back to you, holding his hand out steadily. "Now, don't take that as a green light to get drunk before having sex, don't do that! But sometimes a single drink with only a splash of alcohol can be helpful!"

You're taking in the man's words since he isn't actually making you feel all that awkward, in fact you're sort of smirking at his confession, only barely managing to hide it with your hand.

He's such a massive dork behind that fancy suit! Aw!

"Anyway, how do you feel, [F/n]?"

His question is so ordinary but it catches you off guard nonetheless, Thatch attentively leaning forward in his seat, his dark eyes studying your face as he awaits your response.

Your body grows hot under his stare all of a sudden as you fidget uncomfortably in your seat, you've never been a fan of having someone read you and the fact that this man is a detective only has you feeling even more like an ant under a magnifying glass.

I'm feeling nervous, Thatch! Wouldn't you be too?!

"You're tense." The brunette calmly observes with a slightly worried look before his small smile returns to his lips, he finally leans back into his seat, unknowingly relaxing you a little in the process since you no longer feel like a lab experiment. "We can trade embarrassing stories if you wish?"

Huh?

"Why would you wanna do that?" You question.

"Because I'm in a position where, no matter I say, it'll make you feel uncomfortable and I don't like that. I like to find mutual ground with people so perhaps if we're both embarrassed with our lives, it'll make you feel more comfortable talking to me." The eldest brother explains, his eyes staring up at the living room ceiling as he hums to himself, seemingly trying to think.

This guy is crazy...yep, he's definitely Luffy's brother.

"My favourite song is Ciao Adios!" The brunette blurts with a big grin etched into his features, the comment having you raise a brow as you stare at him in bewilderment, you're not too sure why he'd be embarrassed about something like that. "I sing it most mornings in the shower when I'm at home, nobody knows."

That's not that ba--

"And my first kiss was with Shanks." Now that confession destabilises you, your eyes widening as you stare up at the brother in shock, your mouth opening but no words seem to come out. "Y'see, I was so wrapped up in my own crap as a teenager that it wasn't until I was 19 that I realized, I hadn't even kiss anybody yet! It was new year's eve, there was a girl at this party that liked me but I was too shy to make the first move and Shanks cornered me about it in the kitchen!"

You're admittedly leaning closer in your seat, still gawking at the brunette with curiosity written all over your face. Shanks is your English teacher and you're aware that him and the brothers go way back but you hadn't expected such a story about him and Thatch to surface.

"He wanted to know why I was avoiding the girl and giving her the cold shoulder, of course I wasn't doing that on purpose, I was just a wimp." The brunette snickering at his own expense as his hands come up to his face, seemingly trying to hide his blush from you. "I made the mistake of telling Shanks that I had never kissed a girl before and I was scared, he was trying to coax me into just going up to her and giving her a kiss and I couldn't do it, I just kept saying that I've never kissed anyone before and then, next thing I knew, his lips were on mine."

Good heavens...

The brunette breaks out into a nervous laughter as he drags his hands down his face, his eyes resting on you and his dark blush never leaving his cheeks. "Of course, the girl I liked came in the kitchen at that moment and uh, got the wrong idea so I kinda lost my chance anyway! And that was the story of my first kiss!"

Honestly, I almost ship it.

Yes, his little tactic has worked, you're no longer feeling tense but you are laughing at him.

You hadn't thought you'd feel so relaxed with somebody just by having them tell you about their first kiss but then, you never thought your boyfriend's brother would be telling you that your teacher kissed him either.

"Do your brothers know?" Your question coming out as a giggle as you try to gain control of yourself, the brunette's eyes falling closed in humiliation as he nods his head, his smile still unwavering though.

"Shanks blurts it out sometimes after a drink," Thatch calmly explains, a slight quiver in his tone, straightening himself up in the armchair as he clears his throat. "My darling brothers have had a field day with that information."

A giggle, more like a cackle, simply leaving your lips at the brunette's claim. "Oh, I bet they did!"

Okay, I like Thatch, he's my favourite now. Aside from Luffy, of course.

"Another embarrassing story? The first legitimate girlfriend I had left me and started dating Marco instead, it both stung and embarrassed the shit outta me." Despite the information being somewhat depressing, Thatch still chuckles about it, giving a simple shrug of his shoulders before he speaks again. "Her name was Whitey Bay...honestly, I really liked her when I was younger but she and Marco made a cuter couple, I'll admit."

Ouch.

"I'm sorry," Your voice softening a little now but Thatch just gives you a subtle shake of his head, his smile reassuring you that it doesn't matter to him. "What happened to her? Marco seems single now."

"Yeah, he said he always felt guilty whenever he bought her over. I'd take Ace, Sabo and Luffy to the park so I didn't have to be around when they...a-anyway, Marco said it kept eating away at him so he eventually broke up with her."

Good man, Marco!

"Anyway, about you and Luffy." Thatch voices in a more confident tone, his orbs staring at you attentively as he smiles kindly. "I think he's happy with you and honestly, you seem like a real nice girl so thanks, thanks for making my little brother happy. And if there's ever anything you want to speak about; whether it's worries about him or something else going on in your life, you can always come to me if you need to."

"I can?"

"Of course, you're like family now." Something about Thatch's words has you feeling secure, like you're not alone and that you're loved, it's a feeling that you didn't know you wanted until now.

He's so nice to me!
