I was surprised at how sunny it was outside, usually the weather is cloudy and sunny so their precious skin doesn't get burnt, but I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to not control the weather every day. Annie reached for my hand so I took her's.
"Aw, how sweet!" Johanna said sarcastically from behind us, "the little love birds!"
"I know right!" Lola exclaimed, making her hands form into a heart shape. Very cheesy. Johanna rolled her eyes and looked down not sure of what to say back. I have a feeling Johanna doesn't like Lola all that much.
We arrived at the front gates to the hotel which were about 20 feet tall and 10 feet wide. They were a weird kind of material, like metal but they were transparent too. Weird. There were 2 guards standing next to the gate. They had on bright blue suits with navy colored hats.
Lola went up to the one on the right and said something in a low whisper so we wouldn't eat it. The gate lurched open, "Come on guys!" Lola motioned for us to follow her once again with the wave of her hand.
We walked through the gates, as soon as we reached the other side they closed back with a sharp metal screech. I saw Rosemary cringe at the sharp sound. Gale and Rosemary have been quite quiet this whole time. I turned to look behind us when I noticed that there were 2 of the guards standing behind us as protection? Maybe?
These guards had small pistols in their hands and what looked like a taser in their belt pocket. You don't want to mess with them. Or us for that matter. Since we drove here in hover cars we couldn't really see what the city looked like, besides from the windows in the hotel. It was a very modern city, most buildings were just glass while other were bright shades of pink, blue, purple, orange, yellow, green, and red. It was almost blinding. A few other buildings had a certain "theme" for them, like some had beautiful scenes of beaches, sunsets, and forests while others were just gray or white.
After a few minutes of walking down the streets filled with people who either stopped to look at us or stared as they by, Lola stopped in front of a building made of wood? Why wood? Don't they have plenty of interesting building materials, but they wanted to use wood. The Capital really has changed.
"This is 'Charismatic Cafe'!" Lola exclaimed motioning towards the oak wood building. I noticed how it was shorter than the other buildings around it. To my surprise, the cafe looked homey and welcoming. Strange.
Johanna looked disgusted. Gale and Rosemary didn't have any sign of emotion on their face. Beetee was smiling for some weird reason. Peeta and Katniss looked interested but bored at the same time.
"I know what your thinking. Why Charismatic Cafe? Well.... I would explain it to you but I'll let Naomi explain it to you for herself," Lola explained, she started towards the door and opened it. The door was glass along with some windows around the front. We walked inside and immediately I smelled about 100 things all at once. Pumpkin, coffee beans, apples, bacon, ham, cheese, bread, strawberries, eggs, and so on. It smelled. Delicious.
Everyone's faces lit up as soon as the smells hit their noses. Even Gale had a slight smile on his face. There was a large wooden table (surprise, surprise) up against the far right wall with 9 chairs set up. Lola led us to the table and we sat down. There was one seat left, for whoever Naomi is probably. It was quiet until we heard a voice coming from behind us. We all turned around to see who it was. She was a taller girl, with dark brown hair that was on the brink of black, and brown eyes.
"Hello, I'm Naomi and I own the Charismatic Cafe! Welcome, all of you," Naomi said looking at each of us.
