Sapphire’s POV

“BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!!!!!”

“What the pig? Why is it so noisy? URGHHH!!!” I was rudely awakened from my slumber, glaring at this tiny little machine box thing that was the cause to all my sleep problems. “Thanks alarm clock. You’re an awesome friend. Thanks for waking me up… ON A SUNDAY!” My words dripped with sarcasm as I slammed the off button of the alarm clock down. It was seven-thirty in the morning. Great. I was always bad with electronics. Up till now, I still had trouble with a simple alarm clock. Simple my arrow. I hated them, with all the buttons and weird-o gadgets that came with it. Why couldn’t life be simpler?

I groggily got up from my bed as I stretched my hands up into the air. “Well, no point going back to sleep anymore. Time to get some work done. *yawns*” I said to no one. Yes, I have a really bad habit talking to air but it felt better that way, being able to get what I wanted to say off my chest. Besides, air will ALWAYS listen to you no matter what you have to say. The best part is that they don’t judge you no matter what. Which is why I LOVE air.

Oh I’m sorry, lemme introduce myself. My name is Sapphire Mason and I’m eighteen this year. I have two awesome parents, Gregory Mason and Victoria Mason. Did I mention that my parents are really good-looking too? I mean seriously model-material. Dad is 45 and even at that age, is always mistaken to be 30 or younger. He has soft ash-blond hair that’s always perfectly pulled back and gelled in place in a sleek haircut. His physique is phenomenal, with a slender waist and broad shoulders, with perfectly sculpted abs. He is tan with long muscular and lean legs to die for. He stands at about 6 foot 3. TALL~ Not to mention, his voice is always so calm and soothing. His eyes are ocean blue and they create wrinkles whenever he smiles, showing his years of knowledge and experience. Mum on the other hand, is 43 with smooth, wavy and long chestnut-brown hair. Mum is slim and slender, everything you’d expect of a Victoria’s Secret angel but better. Her eyes are a hazel brown and they sparkle with a certain brilliance to them that makes them so alluring. She is 5 foot 9 and when you put both of them together, they just seem so perfect. I always wondered how such perfect humans could exist and how they managed to be my parents.

I mean, I always felt like I was mixed up at birth. I’m not even tall, nor do I have the kind of eyes they have or even that perfect body shape. I’m only 5 foot 4, really petite, with straight black hair and almond-shaped eyes that are black… yeah, black. I always feel sad whenever I think about the colour of my eyes even though mum and dad says it’s unique and special. It’s not normal… to have such an eye colour. Yeah, I still have the whites of my eye, don’t get me wrong, it’s not THAT crazy but the colour of my irises are so black, you wouldn’t be able to tell my pupil apart from it. Even asian eyes look brown under the sun. Not mine. They’re still black as ever. I used to think and still do sometimes that a part of my genes must have gone awry or something to have ended up with such a bizarre colour. But, I’ve come to terms with it. It’s never going to change…

I put on a comfy oversized tee, shorts and slipped on my furry pink bedroom slippers. It was already eight-thirty in the morning before I managed lug myself downstairs. My parents were still fast asleep and I didn’t want to wake them as they had a really busy schedule and Sunday was their only free day. So I made myself breakfast and by that I mean to dig through the refrigerator and see what was in there that I could reheat which included leftover fried chicken and minestrone soup from last night’s dinner. “Mmmm…. Minestrone.” I closed my eyes as I felt the hot soup slide down my throat. I loved to eat my vegetables and many of the friends I meet thought and still think I’m weird. “Is it that weird to like to eat vegetables more than meat?” I thought while enjoying the remaining of my soup.
