Cast:
Raven Bones as herself: 16, blonde poofy/thick/curly hair, a LOT of freckles, bit of a British accent, smart, funny, kind, a 3/5's emo, second singer in Cavetown..
Robin Skinner as himself: 16, ginger thick/curly hair, also a L O T of freckles, full accent, lead singer in Cavetown, smart, kind, funny, caring, total bean and needs to be protected, 2/5 emo (for now)..
I sit on Robin's bed, strumming my ukuele. I start to play "We don't believe what's on T.V." by Twenty-One-Pilots, and Robin joins in, singing along. I laugh as he picks up Casper from his shoulder, putting him on my head.
Robbie and I have been friends for forever (W E L E T T H E W O R L D P A S S F O R F O R E V E R
). We met at a park one day when we were 4. Turns out, his parents new my dad in high school, before he moved to America, met my mom, got married, had me, and moved here 3 years later (i started to pick up an accent.) . Ever since that day, we've been attached at the hip.I stop playing the song when Robin sings the last cord, and we sit in silence. "Hey, you wanna do something crazy?" He asks. "Depends...what?" "Let's start a band." he says. ".....What would we be called?" i ask. "L.G.B--" "I'mma gonna stop you right there. What about....2 kid--" "Stop, stop, stop." he says with a smirk, mocking me. "What about.......Cavetown?" he asks. "Cavetown...I like it!"
Robbie starts doing stuff on his computer, and i start to make up a beet on my ukuele. I start to hum the tune, making up words as i went.
I've got miles of regret and confusing friends.
But perhaps it's just my stupid head in the end.
Thinking, should i what here or head my way home?
You said go (you said go),
Making up problems that don't exist.
Why do i let myself dream about this?
We're floating away, my body's in space.
We are going home,
Missing pieces of my skull.
I'll sew patches of my own soul.
There's nothing you or I can do, so let the stars fall.
Cause from up here,
The sky'd my thoughts and were all so small.
I stop when i feel Casper start to move and Robbie staring at me. "When in the the bloody hell did you learn to sing like that?" he asks, grining widely. "I-I don't know. I just started singing. I remembered the Meteor Shower tonight, and then i stared singing.." I say, blushing at his compliment.
Meteor shower, quick take cover.
But the hues in our hair compliment each other.
I'd sell my own bones,
for sapphire stones, cause i know blue is your favorite color.
There's nothing you or i can do, so let the stars fall.
'Cause from up here, the sky's my thoughts and we're all so small.
Robin sings, motioning for me to keep playing. I do, changing the key.
My heart and Earth shall share the same rule.
It starts with 'Love' and ends in 'You'.
Don't go outside, it's dangerous to be outside,
Without me by your side.
(*me*: Take it slow, you'll know. Sew up your skull, take your time. And we're just fine.)
Missing pieces of my skin,
I'll sew patches of my own will.
After we're done, we do it one more time, recording ourselves this time. "Cavetown..." i whisper, going with Robin to see the meteor shower on his roof. "I like it." I state, sitting. "Like what?" " 'Cavetown'. I think it's good." I say. Robin stands for a few more mintues as i stare at the sky, looking at the beautiful stars. I feel a light weight press down on my shoulders, and i see it's a yellow blanket. Robin sits next to me, slightly blushing. "Thanks." I whisper. he nods, looking up at the sky too. We sit in a comfertable silence, staring at the sky.
I gasp slightly, as the meteor show started. I lean over and put my head on Robbie's shoulder, smiling up at him. He smiles down at me, wrapping his arm around me. I wrap my arm around him, scooting close to him, letting the blanket fall of my shoulders. "It's beautiful." I whisper. "Yeah...You--ugh, you're right." He stutters. "You okay?" I ask, not looking away from the sky. "Yeah...I'm fine." he whispers, leaning his head down on mine.
"They're like rocket ships landing." he says after a while. I nod. I start to pat a beat on his leg.
"Rocket Ships will take off. Whether you're in them or not. And it's sad, but it's the truth. The world will still turn without you..." I sing.
"How are you so good at that?" He asks. "What?" "Singing. Just, coming up with songs on the spot. Like, i could never do that.." "Yes you can. We're 'Cavetown' now, so we can do anything." I say as the meteor shower stops.
We don't move, just sitting there, staring at the stars. I'm about to get up, when i hear a faint snore. I move my head a little to see Robin, sleeping, arms around me, his head on mine. I chuckle, slightly moving so i could try and carry him. "Robbie....Robbie, mate, wake up." I shake him, an accent coming out of my mouth before i can stop it. "Did you just call me 'mate'? I've never heard you so British." He chuckles, waking up. I laugh, helping him up, and we walk to his room. "I'm gonna go." I say, packing up my stuff. "But, RAVEN!" he whines, hugging my legs. "Bloody hell, you're such a bean. I've been here for 9 days, and my dad probably wants me home." I say.
I've been here since my mom died, i couldn't go home. I couldn't see home without her there. I sigh, tears starting to form in my eyes. I feel something heavy on me, but i don't even really feel it, nor do i care. I just feel stuck. I feel so disconnected, that i don't even relise i'm still standing. "...aven.....raven.....raven, look at me, please." A light voice says. I slowly start to feel myself connect again, and i relise Robin was hugging me. "What did you say?" I ask, sniffling. I didn't even notice i was crying until he wipes away a fat tear. "You dissociated." he says. I've done that a lot he says. Every time I think about my mom and the car crash, Robbie says i do that. "I'm...I'm sor-sorry." i mutter, trying to stop crying. "Maybe....Maybe, you can go back tomorrow? Make it 10 days..." Robin says, hugging me again, but tighter. All i can do is nod.
